Committee impressed by BYU loss; elevates them over Notre Dame

The College Football Playoff Committee elevated BYU to #10, dropping Notre Dame to #11. Committee chief Hunter Yurachek said the way BYU was destroyed by Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship Game was impressive.

"BYU just never quit," said Yurachek. "That's the kind of effort that gets you into the hearts of the committee members."

Yurachek also pointed out BYU lost twice to the #4 team while Notre Dame lost twice to #7 and #12.

"Their losses are also far more impressive than Notre Dame's," said Yurachek. "Besides, Notre Dame beat the SEC champions last year in the playoffs. We can't risk that happening again."
