is to remove humans as much as possible from the equation. Some think the weekly shows need to go and I 100% disagree. Yes, transparency provided 0 to ND this year, but I the only thing not having a weekly show does is save ND fans this year from thinking ND was in when they weren't. No weekly show just opens the door for more manipulation, and there will come a time when a fringe team is squeezed out for a Texas or Vandy-like team to give the SEC a 5th of 6th team they didn't deserve.
Only a combination of computer polls along with a bunch of official metrics will there be a process that should eliminate most, if not all, ways of manipulation. I would expect any computer poll or metric to release its formula so it can be verified by people independent of the process. Many of the computer people won't like that, but tough shit, either release it, or it doesn't get included. Now, I highly doubt the SEC/ESPN would agree to that as they like having humans be able to massage the rankings to fit their whims, but if humans are included going forward, ND and any team not from the SEC/ACC is susceptible to being screwed in the last ranking. Some may think the B10 would be protected as well, but I think the SEC would easily shit on them if they could and get away with it.
