The ACC has 17 teams that play widely disparate schedules, and as a result we saw the mess we had this year. A simple solution is to go back to divisional play, but with a twist: change teams in the divisions each year so no one is playing the same opponents year after year.
With a 9-game conference schedule, you would play everyone in your division once and one or two teams in the other division. You get two points for an intra-conference win and one point for an inter-division win.
This solves (almost) every problem with large conference play and will result in a more representative conference champion.
