We don’t know what ND’s NIL budget is. We have no idea how much it cost to retain the likely Heisman favorite and 9 (maybe 10) of your 11 defensive starters. Including probably one of the highest paid players in defense. We don’t know how much 2 likely NFL lineman will cost in Jag and Lambert and a 2 year starter at LT in Knapp.
The entire ND fanbase didn’t want Williams to walk, and ND stepped up when he was getting big offers.
We have no clue how much it cost to sign the best recruiting class we have had since the early 90s.
We have no idea how confident they are on other players that are a bigger need or a better value.
We have no idea what other teams are paying. Perhaps they are over paying and ND can find similar options for less money that they view as equals.
Time will tell, and if he strike out big time I’ll be just as upset. But Freeman and staff have earned some trust.
