Fact: like many of us here, I have been a huge critic of BK. Fact: we have all likely heard / read that he is seeking a return to ND to "learn some things....and talk with a few of his fellow former coaches." At first blush, to me anyway, this appears to be an olive branch. I may be giving him too much credit but it's how I feel about it. I do not believe he is seeking to "steal" any well-kept secrets or perhaps attempt to give a hard time to any / all of his detractors. Rarely, if ever, did any of us experience a side of BK that could be called genuine, whether it be by seeing him in person or, most likely, reading about him through the media throughout his 11 (?) years at ND. Genuineness never seemed to be part of his DNA----it was "all business."---and he rubbed many the wrong way. As such, I'd like to make this statement---a serious one and not just another BK slam. If Marcus, et al agree to invite him to visit, whether for a day or a week, I sincerely hope that he very quickly visits the grotto and the Basilica. In an even more perfect world, I hope he makes time to visit with a priest to provide a confession. I believe these things would be much more valuable than, say, a roundtable discussion with coaches or a trip to the golf course----again, not a slam but a reality. IMO, if he can show a little humility, contriteness and genuineness to Our Lord, it may mean a resurrection of his career. I'm willing to bet that many of us have been down a similar path in our lives, me included. It could be the greatest decision I ever made.
