His worst enemy as a coach was himself, since he wasn't exactly well liked by the players (except for Tommy Rees), and wasn't exactly patient or forgiving with them (again, except for Tommy Rees).
That, plus he would happily throw the players under the bus.
Since he has no horses in the race, and isn't trying to impose his will on a football program, he may just succeed. He didn't have all of that success at Cincy and ND by being a complete ignoramus, and if he can simply get out of his purple face favoritism mode, I think he can do decently as a color analyst.
