I always wondered if Jake Kelchner would have won the starting QB job over Rick Mirer had Kelchner not broke his collarbone during spring ball? Kelchner had a host of issues from an underage drinking to bad grades, but just from football alone, I’ve always wondered who was the better QB? If you recall, Kelchner ended up at West Virginia and had a good career there. Just curious as this was pre internet and being from NE PA where Kelchner was from, I was hearing back then that Kelchner would have won the job but always wondered if that was true or total bullshit?
