Or you will lose that state.
That only happens if the Trump GOP chosen Senate candidates lose, which then gives McConnell the runway to distinguish the traditional Republicans (Mike DeWine, Kemp) from the Trump selected candidates.
Then DeSantis becomes the formidable favorite for 2024.
However, if the GOP wins majority of the Senate (still likely imo), then that means Trump’s candidates have delivered. It also means someone like Josh Hawley could challenge to become Senate Majority Leader.
Unfortunately, I think throwing Trump into jail will only enhance his chances for being elected president.
No way Hawley challenges. That's just crazy talk.
You could be right.
But a note about one of the so-called ‘Trump chosen’ candidates. JD Vance did his share of Trump ass kissing, but not initially, and not nearly to the degree of most of the other candidates. I would certainly not consider him to have been ‘chosen’ by Trump. The early favorite to be the GOP nominee was former state GOP chair, Mary Timken. She was endorsed by outgoing Senator Portman, and Trump was a big fan. Her primary pitch was that no other candidate loved Trump more than her. Trump eventually endorsed Vance, but I would expect (or maybe hope) that Vance distances himself should he win tonight.
