Also overall soccer participation actually has declined for about a decade. Soccer participation peaked in US around 2008-2010. It has been declining since then Soccer as a sport is indeed very strange in US.

The best womens teams in the world happen to come from places where woman have the most freedom. The USWNT benefits from the fact that girls have had access to sports for decades and we have a culture that encourages girls to play. it really is a great accomplishment and that accomplishment. We should all kneel to the flag the next time the USWNT takes the field to acknowledge that accomplishment.
