wouldn't want them wasting their time looking into claims of Dark Money...or, heaven forbid...making it harder for them to bend our SCOTUS to their will.

them too. Just another government institution that became weaponized when Obama was president.

in Dark Money as he continues his quest to form the U.S. Judiciary to his liking. btw, here's another article that goes into greater detail regarding the secretive donor of that $1.6B...
When it comes to SCOTUS nominees, I can't imagine all of it going to judges like Barrett, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Alito...after Mr. Leo takes his cut (illegally?), I'm guessing that it goes to the individuals who really matter....i.e. the Senators who must confirm those judges...they can then use those funds for reelection campaigns, etc. This is NOT what the Founding Fathers ever intended.
While Democratic donors can also use such avenues in defense, they are the one party that has consistently fought to overturn "Citizens United" that opened the floodgates to Dark Money...note President Obama's very public rebuke of the SCOTUS justices over this issue in his State of the Union address...that shows how seriously the Dems want to get rid of such financial abuses.

The IRS needs to be defunded in conjunction with a simplified tax code.
Why do you want to put more stress on low income familes?
families have a third...the IRS is trying to hire people for 'Special Teams' to go after the billions in illegal tax avoidance...the bottom half of America certainly doesn't have that kind of cash on hand, now does it?...face up to reality, the GOP is only interested in the Top 1%.
Audits of the top 1% of families takes a lot of resources due to their complex financial situations...and their multitude of well paid attorneys. The GOP made defunding of the IRS its #1 legislative objective...guess which percentage of the U.S. population they are working for.

There are at least tens of billions in uncollected taxes which would go a long way toward reducing the national debt…you should be cheering for an increase in IRS resources…what’s wrong with you?
You'll note that I replied to Jim even though he's also unreasonable.
defunding the IRS...btw, unless you're part of the 1%, YOU are among those getting hosed by this campaign...you just won't allow yourself to see it.

I already explained this to Jim. Why the fuck are you posting shit that is completely irrelevant given my argument. You are too dumb to understand this. Move on.

Corporations and the wealthy are the biggest beneficiaries of the IRS’ decay. Most Americans’ interaction with the IRS is largely automated. But it takes specialized, well-trained personnel to audit a business or a billionaire or to unravel a tax scheme — and those employees are leaving in droves and taking their expertise with them. For the country’s largest corporations, the danger of being hit with a billion-dollar tax bill has greatly diminished. For the rich, who research shows evade taxes the most, the IRS has become less and less of a force to be feared.
The story has been different for poor taxpayers. The IRS oversees one of the government’s largest anti-poverty programs, the earned income tax credit, which provides cash to the working poor. Under continued pressure from Republicans, the IRS has long made a priority of auditing people who receive that money, and as the IRS has shrunk, those audits have consumed even more resources, accounting for 36 percent of audits last year. The credit’s recipients — whose annual income is typically less than $20,000 — are now examined at rates similar to those who make $500,000 to $1 million a year. Only people with incomes above $1 million are examined much more frequently.

% of the population is not in the millionaire or billionaire group?
I'm not missing 49% either. You're not reading the stats properly.

I don't know what percent of all audits are done on millionaires. I only know that 1% of millionaires are audited.
If you want to do that math, it's probably pretty easy to do. Have at it. What you're going to find is that the VAST majority of IRS audits are done and lower and middle income familes.
The narrative that we need the IRS to have massive funding so that we can tax the rich is false.
of millionaire/billionaires are audited. What do ya think?
It really hard to audit rich people. You can't just hire anyone and expect them to be able to audit DJT's taxes.
It's really easy to audit poor people. If you hire more people and they aren't really skilled, you are just going to be capable of auditing more poor people.

Thank God for Joe Biden and the Democrats.
The IRS enforces a code written to tax the middle class.
We could simplify it but the elite's lobbyists would never allow that.
And there are more rich Dems than rich Republicans.
that's a crime, right? In any event, we don't want the IRS bc of the selective enforcement. See the Garland thread below.
