I think our lying overlords term this "disinformation."

Mostly it is the MSM spewing the Misinformation. "A Lie goes around the world before the Truth get's it's pants on" someone once said and it is Oh so true today

Ukrainians are nazis! They attacked us first! The people in these regions are ethnically Russian and want to be with us!
All bullshit, of course, but it won't matter. There's a simple question that should be asked of this bloke and others spouting this nonsense: if the Russians were only responding to being attacked in the areas which they already controlled, why did they attack Kiev in the opening days of the war (before getting destroyed up there)?
I wish we could get an official ruling on when different groups are entitled to rebel and when they are not.
Awesome
Your comrades among the Brain Trust here have assured us that he is crazy! Bonkers! Blooyahooyahoo!
Of course, the next second, they're busy telling us what his logical next move will be. Humans! What are you going to do with them, eh, Lance?
A bombing in 2014 (assuming that is true) led to an attack 8 years later. Does that make sense given what the man in your original post said? Doesn't jive to me.
Reading and and observing Putin, I suspect they may be correct: he is not of his right mind.
You asked why he would wait eight years. Leaving aside strategic reasons he might have delayed, it is entirely possible that his mental deterioration is an explanation for the invasion not happening until 2022.
By an excuser with a straight face on TV? No.
Was that bombing by Ukraine in response to, ya know, being invaded in 2014? I’m guessing so. Makes it even more interesting of a take.
Russia invaded. Ukraine responds. Russia uses the response to justify another invasion 8 years later. Terrific logic.
who is quite possibly demented. That's Putin, for the sake of this discussion, not Biden. Why do demented men behave irrationally? I don't know. If a moose craps in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound or smell?
I would like to point out again that you folks are the ones gambling the fate of the world on Putin's sanity. Every $10 billion and weapon system we send that craphole country moves us closer to WWIII. I mean, unless you're drinking the Kool-Aid and believe that Putin is going to run out of men or will accept defeat.
Finally, what's the plan? Joey just stated that we will remain there for however long it takes, whatever that means. Does that sound like an intelligent thing to say? Does that mean as the Midget Autocrat guilt-trips our elected dum-dums into sending him eventual trillions, we will just keep on giving, regardless the situation in the war? In perpetuity? Also, does that sound like an intelligent thing to say if there is any possibility that the opinions of the ruling administration changes? If you get your wish and Joey is re-elected, what happens in a second term when an overwhelming majority of Americans want us out? What will members of the administration say as we back out of Joey's commitment?
The guy in the video said Russia responded to being attacked. They weren't. Ukraine responded to Russia attacking 8 years prior. You're trying to fit that square peg into the round hole of "well, Putin is crazy so you don't know that he's responding 8 years later!" My 8-year old has better logic. Putin wanted Ukraine and that's why he attacked, including why he made an immediate push for Kiev.
If you start a discussion (for the 100th time on this board) about the strategy of supporting Ukraine or sending them support that's fine, but that's an entirely different topic. Russia didn't attack because Ukraine attacked them. Nor did they attack because Ukraine is a bunch of nazis. The absurdity of the latter point is just hilarious.
End of story.
I responded to it, repeating myself at least twice. How about you proffer an explanation for why Putin waited so long to invade? Careful, make sure your explanation isn't juvenile.
The "100th time?" Boy, what kind of fool would keep reading someone like that, Lance? For someone who claims not to read all my posts, I'll be darned if you aren't conversant on all of them.
I didn’t bring it up before.
For fuck’s sake.
waited 8 years to invade Ukraine. How you think that noting that Ukraine, in fact, did this entails some sort of denial in my part about Putin's behavior in 2022 is something you will have to explain. I doubt you will. I have never and would never argue that the Ukrainian bombing of its own in 2014 is the sole or main reason that Putin invaded in 2014. I will, however, argue that our media purposely leaves out facts as they paint the Midget Autocrat and Ukraine as paragons of democracy and freedom. In the last year, and prior to the Russian invasion, Midget Autocrat has attacked civil liberties in his country. Ukraine is and has been a corrupt craphole for some time. The idea that supporting Ukraine is supporting "democracy" is comical. Since we're talking about 2014, would you be okay with our government bombing one of our major cities because rebels seized control of it? If the flakes in Cali led an attempted secession, should we launch missiles at Sacramento, SF, and beyond? Does that sound like a modern, advanced society, or does that sound more like something a backwards, craphole country would do?"
And since you introduced the question of why Putin waited, I will ask again: why do you think he waited? You seem to know what the bad answers are, so I'd like to know the good ones. I'm fine if you consult The Economist right as you read this.
They are completely unrelated. That's my entire point.
JFC you can't be this stupid. You just can't be.
Show me where precisely in this thread that I argued that the Ukrainian attack on the Donbas in 2014 was the reason that Putin invaded in 2022.
The guy in the video stated a couple facts: Ukraine attacked its own in the Donbas and one of the Minsk Agreements provided for self-government for Russians in the Donbas. Support or opposition to our support of Ukraine mostly rests on how Americans view Ukraine. Unless they actively seek out heterodox sources, they are spoonfed Ukrainian propaganda. They never hear things like this from "mainstream" sources, only from right-wing or the remaining lefties who are actually antiwar. Americans should have accurate descriptions of Ukraine and its leader. Our political leaders and their lapdogs assume, correctly, that if Americans are given a broader perspective beyond pro-Ukrainian propagandas, their support will plummet.

If you do, you just don't have clue on basic knowledge of military and war. Attacking Kiev, together with attacking 2nd largest city Kharkiv with even much less Russian troops and southern big city Kherson are all about pressure on Ukraine, intended to bring Ukraine to the table and sign the deal of not joining NATO and allowing Donbas to be autonomous (fulfilling Minsk agreement). Russia almost achieved this goal, but at the end it failed after UK/US intervention. After they failed to solve Donbas issue through negotiation table, Russia decided to fight on Donbas. Special operation entered it's 2nd phase, battle for Donbas.
Even common sense can tell you such limited Russian troops can not take and occupy large cities Kiev and Kharkiv, not to mention Ukrainian troops are more than Russian troops in Ukraine. I am talking about the phase one of special military operation (March, April and May).
Russia law doesn't allow conscripts (which are majority of Russia military) to be deployed outside Russia border. Only kontraktniki (contract soldiers with better pay and benefits) can go to other countries to fight. This is the reason why Russia, although it's military is one of largest in the world, can't have more troops in Ukraine. Its constitution doesn't allow it. This fact also tells us the claim that Putin wants take back those countries of former USSR is ignorant bullshit.
Of course! Why didn’t we all see that?
Worked like a charm, too. You must be so proud.
It (attacking Kiev and Kharkiv) also forced Ukrainian elite troops deployed in Donbas and ready to attack LPR and DPR then to redeploy to Kharkiv and Kiev. If you recall, Zelensky repeatedly publicly said not joining NATO can be negotiated during that period.
Even you can’t believe that shit.

Take a gander at Eli’s posts on this topic. Tell me he doesn’t support Putin and I’ll call you a blind/dumb imbecile.
I’m a disabled combat veteran that supports democracy. Now wake the fuck up.
pro-dope, pro-keeping explicitly sexual KGTBQ+ books in school libraries, pro-materialism, pro-Howard Stern. That's a whole bag of sound judgment, there.
I guarantee to you dollars-to-donuts that if Joey and the Uniparty war pigs proposed 100 trillion to Midget Autocrat, he would be 100% behind it. On account of his love for freedom and democracy.

And Zelensky wasn’t in power and Russian separatists caused the violence in Donbas
plus bombing ethnic Russians and feckless Biden led to this war.
Russia was never threatened by NATO, dumb ass. NATO is a defensive organization that either accepts or declines membership. As long as Russia doesn’t expand west, they’re good to go. No one wants to invade Russia.
You sound like Eli’s dumb ass
