Dr. King's quote about valuing the content of one's character over the color of their skin is flouted.
Skin color and gender supersede meritocracy. Anti-white racism is the order of the day. For example, the LA Times just told us that affluent whites in Los Angeles are polluting the air that people of color have to breathe.
The greatest proof of the foolishness of DEI is the makeup of the NBA: blacks make up 75% of the players, although they are only 13% of the population. This is pure meritocracy, as it should be.
America deserves no less.

A board that is 92% white, Sr. leadership only 4% Black and 38% women. Just the kind of numbers that draw the ire of most Silicon Valley SJWs.

This is why they are strapped for barristas, restaurant help and store clerks.
My son lives in Mountain View in a 50 year old three bedroom tract house that was originally built for blue color aesospace laborers and it's worth $3.5 M.
His family is super diverse (Brazilian/Chinese/Brazilians)... but they can pass for Asians, who are not considered POC.
...and they don't even leash them!
else. I will go to my grave believing best person for the job period. Hirings and promotions should be based on merit.
DIVERSITY: It is something to be tolerated, not sought out in an effort to destroy every unifying principle of our nation. Tolerance? Of course. Undoing any unity...and destroying all secular ceremony and shared principles? That is totally harmful. And, the problem is, the Left doesn't know when to stop. We achieved MLK's goal of individuals being judged by the content of their character. But they went further, and they demand that we now judge people by their skin color, but in reverse. That is a path towards destruction of civilized society.
EQUITY: MLK sought equality. Now, the Left repudiates MLK because the Right embraces MLK. The Left doesn't want equality. They want equity, which requires us to judge people by the color of their skin...it requires racism. The Left always requires judging individuals by their group...racism. Equality of opportunity has always been an American principle, and equality of status (equity) has always been a communist/socialist principle. The Left gravitated toward equity. They don't like equality of opportunity, because achieving that eliminates their political power.
INCLUSION: Of course, no problem.

EQUITY: MLK fought for EQUAL OPPORTUNITY...since no race is inherently superior, ALL races should have equal opportunity to SUCCEED, and success is dependent on a person's innate intelligence, skills and personal DRIVE...we are NOT talking about equal OUTCOMES.
INCLUSION: follows from Diversity and Equity...no reason not to include everyone in any plans or programs.
But I suspect you value diversity over and above societal unity. Do you support country quotas, so that immigrants come from all countries, not just from a few countries? Would you restrict Mexicans so we can get more Pakistanies, more Yemenis, and people from other cultures who do not necessarily share our values?...so that the US becomes more diverse than it is? Would you use immigration to enable individuals to come here to succeed, or as a tool to change American society?
I also suspect that you look at disperate outcomes as evidence that we don't have equality of opportunity. Would you, for example, lower educational standards to achieve a more equal racial outcome (even though educational failures have nothing to do with race)? I suspect you would. Please tell me I am wrong.
a Notre Dame site...explain why this university among so may others is wrong to sponsor DEI initiatives...this is just one segment of the nation's 'lived experience' that is taking action, I can give you a multitude of others that recognize the urgency of achieving greater Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
iMO it is an undeniable fact that the USA is comprised of a multitude of different races, faiths, political philosophies, and yes, gender identities...this is reality...so, to get MAXIMUM production out of the population, ALL of them should feel just as valued as White, Christian Europeans...that is clearly not the case right now...therefore the effort to 'encourage' more appreciation of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion...for all citizens.
As for immigrants, we have always had quotas...we can't take in everyone who would like to be an American, yet we regularly work (in Congress) to make them as fair as possible ...but we can definitely take in a significant number of immigrants given our demographic changes (e.g. retiring "Baby Boomers")...we NEED more workers, and the many immigrants I've come in contact with are ALL tax paying WORKERS...they are Vietnamese auto mechanics and surgeons, Hispanic contractors, Iranian (Muslim) chemistry professors, etc.
The fact of the matter is that the birth rate in the U.S. is not high enough to provide the needed workers...plus it would take far too long to provide the needed 'heads' in time to ensure continued growth...so, why not encourage more immigrants...they are all human beings, right, so they can be educated and 'inculcated' in American values and become valued co-workers and citizens...not sure why you're having trouble dealing with this reality.
I hesitate to ask, but must...what do you mean by "Diversity over and above societal unity"???

The question is, are you looking for contributing individuals? Or, are you looking for diversity? What is your primary goal?
There are plenty of individuals who want to legally come here to work hard and continue building the greatest single society on the earth. But, if those individuals have the wrong skin color, would you turn them away in favor of people who have the right (in your mind) skin color?...even if the "right colored people" (again, in your mind) are from societies that do not share US values? Are you looking for groups of people to build a diverse society?...judging them by race? Or, are you looking for hard working individuals?...judging them on there character rather than their skin?
If you even consider skin color in your answer, we will all know where you stand...against MLK, and for equality of status (equity).
