There have been athletes in other sports over the years who developed the yips and couldn't shake it. I'm guessing it's a mental thing. In her case, a serious injury could be the end result. Champions have to be 100% physically, mentally, and spiritually imho. Watching her teammates perform last night, Miss Biles looked totally drained. I support her. I have no idea what she is feeling. Somehow, an old geezer like me ragging on a young Olympic champion just doesn't seem right.
to people not performing life threatening moves without the proper focus. If she becomes the poster child for “If your having a bad day at work, you deserve some personal time off”, the I would be disgusted. Her dropping out of other events would then be viewed as a business move done not to tarnish her future business opportunities.
I’m personally waiting to see on this one, but I still give her the benefit of the doubt.
Sorry, but if you're going through mental health issues the LAST place you should be is on social media. But, I guess ya gotta keep the brand in the spotlight while it's shining on the Olympics, because once the Games are over the spotlight dims and the sponsorship money dries up.
I have no beef with the girl. She's the best gymnast ever. This past week doesn't change that.
