last evening (~7 ft)...removed the netting around it today...fluffed it out, straightened it out (not so good side facing the corner ;-))...cleaned up the loose needles (the tree farm's "shaker" is good, but not great), and the wife and I will start in earnest on the decorations tomorrow.
We've already put a nice Manger Scene next to our front door and will be installing a lighted star at the nearby corner of the roof, along with a tight-beamed spotlight that will shine of the Manger...looking forward to getting that taken care of (and surviving the ladder climb ;-)).
So, what's happening at your "Casa"?
Merry Christmas to you.
vibrance that helps make NYC special.
Merry Christmas, Jim
Our tree is a Doulas Fur. I love how full they are. Outside lights and decor is done, too. Love Christmas time other than the 20th, which is the day I got wounded in action.
tree up for a solid month until "Little Christmas". Outdoor decorations stay up until about third week of January.
Hope all here have a happy and healthy Christmas season.
buys and decorates a tree, decorates inside the house and son hangs outside lights. I retired from that task a few years ago. We used to drive through a living pageant with sheep, mules, donkeys, cattle and a camel on Sunday evenings at a church in Mission Viejo when kids were young which we all enjoyed.
Merry Christmas to all.
happen again.
btw, again, sincere thanks for your service, Domer...Enjoy the Holidays with all those close to you...glad you made it home.
getting our REAL tree from the same tree farm. Every year the owner talks my ear off about Notre Dame football. He tells my kids jokes (even though they're all in their mid to late teens now). Then he objects when I give him a large tip until I insist he use it to buy his crew lunch. Good times.
Never enough lights for the tree. IDK, maybe 1,500 lights this year on an 8 ft tree. I get the tree in the stand, my wife strings the lights and kids put on the decorations. While I put up all the lights outside. Then I finish off the tree by putting on the garland/tinsel. I load up the icicles on Christmas Eve. The kids also do the decorating on the inside of the house.

House is always very festive, but I never liked the idea of leaving a live tree (fire hazard) inside the house while away for more than 48 hours.
Early on, we had a tree, which I dragged out to the curb prior to our departure, a couple days before Christmas, — feeling like Paulie in Rocky I, throwing Adrian’s Thanksgiving turkey in the alley. The menacing and judgmental looks of passerbys was too much “guilt” to bear.
But, we always have a beautiful tree at my MIL’s residence in DC, tastefully decorated by my wife, with a train continually looping around the tree. So yes, Christmas is fully celebrated, going to mass Christmas Eve, followed by dinner out, and plenty of red wine. Lots of coffee Christmas morning, a proper breakfast prepared by me, and of course, a proper nap.
Go Jesus!
