them about their plans after they graduate. Rarely, very rarely, do I encounter a young woman who has no plan. Even the ones who are poor students. Conversely, I commonly find young men who have no plan. Sometimes, I would go so far as ballpark it at 50%. Young men gravitate to Peterson because many of them recognize that they are rudderless and are leading meaningless lives.
Given that, it's not at all surprising that women at 18 have a plan and men are seemingly lost in the wilderness.
Don't always agree with JP, but I certainly align with the ideas
- that you should raise your kids to exist in the world as it is (don't be overly protective)
- allow them to fail (and learn)
- set guidelines and enforce them
Some of it seems common sense, but see way too many parents that are still protecting their kids into their 20's.
I actually have a family friend that wants her 30 year old, married daughter to text her goodnight? wtf? when does that end?
