.... click your heels and say "Democrats are owed the right to use the nuclear option three times ... and everything will be even steven."
Let's start with the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

Granted... it looks like he read what his handlers wrote.

The GOP held the Senate and House when that speech was made.
Selective moral outrage only counts when the other side is in charge. Your high-minded principles are allowed to change depending on the latest election results.

About how it was hardly ever used for decades - except to block civil rights legislation - and now it routinely used.
It needs to go. Elections will matter again.
Let bills pass, and let senators live with the consequences.
And yes, I will feel the same after the GOP takes over. Save this post.
I don't want any single party to have unrestricted control of the entire country with a 51% majority. It threatens the Republic in a disastrous way and puts us on an ugly path -- a fast on -- to excessive government control and mob rule.
After all, they have an enormous advantage in the Senate. There are more red states than blue.
The filibuster was never intended to work like it does now. It just wasn't. There were more bills filibustered in the Obama years than all previous presidents COMBINED.
It was never meant to be an instrument of obstruction. But it is now.
And just look at what is happening with Biden's nominees - Cruz is blocking ALL ambassadors and State Dept nominees, and Cotton was blocking ALL US Attorneys, the former over the Nordstream Pipeline and the latter (not exaggerating) because he was mad at Dick Durbin for interrupting him and not apologizing. For 8 months. Not kidding.
The Senate is dysfunctional.
There are whole heck of a lot of things that I'd love to see change. But I also certainly wouldn't get rid of the filibuster as a standalone action.

These posts are intertwined.
Latent racism is the most insidious variant.
Or who do but like to win points in debates rather than make honest statements.
They have always been the party to exploit racism.

Ergo, we should get rid of boats.

As if he had ever shown deference to senate norms when it comes to judges and justices.

down that slippery slope.
See that, slippery slopes DO exist.

Worthwhile to watch the entire clip.
[Please note that Reid specifically excluded Supreme Ct nominees -- at 11:50 on the counter]

There go hopes for mailed ballots and drop boxes.
Gotta show up with an ID.
How oppressive.
