The point is lost on you, though, isn't it?
BTW, I called them loons at the time, just as I'll call you a loon for posting this dreck. You're sore about that trainwreck a couple days ago. We get it.
Second BTW: if you really believe he's a maniacal dictator, why are you wasting your time rallying the troops for any Dem candidate against him when you know he will simply declare himself president of the next term, regardless the election results?
But I suppose he is an anti-Semite. That much is manifestly clear.
The only reasonable reaction to that video is “Jesus Christ!”
I wasn't comparing that to anything by any other president. I compared your hyperbolic bilge that Trump is a dictator to the same claims by righties about Obama. You tribalists are flip sides of the same coin. You behave just like the Tea Partiers you disparaged a decade ago.
Just to be clear on your other assertion: Trump has done nothing on the order of giving arms to the Iranians and subsidizing murdering, rapist thugs in a Latin American nation. Unlike you and most people, I have a memory that extends past five years ago. I recall The Cult of Ronnie. I remember all the tall tales he used to repeat, even after being told they were not true. I recall all the out-and-out crooks and shysters under his watch, who put Scott Pruitt and the recently-resigned Labor Secretary to shame. I recall a ridiculous, staged "invasion" of a little island to gin up support at home and distract from the massacre of Marine barracks in Lebanon. Shall I go on? Memory and a knowledge of history allows me to distinguish the ridiculous self-congratulatory excesses of our Reality Star President from policies and executive actions that actually undermined what you might call our "democratic values."
A few other random things that Reality Star President isn't doing:
- Proposing we add 23 Supreme Court justices so that he can effectively create a court that rules in the ways he wishes.
- Moved ethnic groups by force from their homes, to destinations thousands miles away...
- by openly flouting the Supreme Court's ruling
- Throwing people into internment camps
- Assassinating an American citizen
- Siccing the IRS on political opponents
- Concocting a sequence of military events, and lying to the American people, to get us into a war with North Vietnam
Shall I go on?
Are some of Trump's narcissistic public performances unprecedented? Absolutely. Is he grabbing power in the fashion of an actual dictator? No. Have we seen presidents grab and wield power to degrees that we have not seen from Trump? Absolutely. Some of those examples happened during your lifetime. Were you hyperventilating about those at the time and declaring those presidents dictators?
Of course, you have spilled on about a crazy notion that Democrats cast Trump is a dictator.
Will never happen in this country.
Rather, Trump is a dictator wannabee in his own mind, ... in a nation that generally abhors dictators. Trump is seemingly fascinated by dictators and defers to them. He seems to admire that dictators have no checks 'n balances, no real pushback from within. Trump seemingly likes such an arrangement of power.
In the interests of US national security and foreign policy, US Presidents have tolerated dictators and engaged them. But, they didn't hold them in high regard as Trump publicly has expressed.
Now, maybe my editorial characterization of Tuesday's rally (undoubtedly consistent with and protected by the First Amendment) was taken literally by you.
Regarding Tuesday's gathering, the weird part is not the political rally (on the eve of the Mueller testimony). Rather, it is the content of the Trump intro video and the kids' reaction, that is "different" than what most of use expect from a US President.
My sincere hope is that Trump plays that video throughout the 2020 campaign, and uses it as his introduction at the GOP Convention. It is splendid. It is perfect, It captures the very essence of Donald Trump.
Trump doesn't hold any dictator in high regard. However, he has to try to fix the mess that he has been left, and he wants to bridge differences on mutually held concerns as any leader always has. He also speaks in trump speech which you well know.
Now Barack Obama genuinely admired Fidel Castro.
I am not bringing this up to attack Obama. i bring it up to show your selective outrage. I understand that in both cases, the president is trying to move forward since you can't change the past. We may not agree on the decision, but the decision was not made because of an underlying desire to be a fellow dictator.

This is what I understand happened. You can let me know if it is wrong and how. Various organizations went to the IRS to apply for tax exempt status under 501(c)(3). 501(c)(3) is not available to organizations that campaign for or against politicians. The IRS delayed granting the status to various organizations that names that sounded as if they were using the funds to campaign for or against politicians. That said, it appears to have been some abuse.
That is not siccing the IRS on political opponents. First of all, they cannot, by definition, be political opponents because political opponents cannot qualify for 501(c)(3) status. Secondly, nobody "sic'd" anyone on anybody. Those "tea party organizations" went to the IRS seeking tax free status that they didn't previously have. The IRS may have unfairly or improperly delayed their applications based on political sounding names, but they were not "sic'd" on anyone, they certainly did not "go after" anyone. They delayed their applications for special tax free status.
Finally, is there really a living soul that believes Obama order this? Was there a hotline between Lois Lerner and Obama? Would Lois call everytime a 501(c)(3) application came in, and await the thumbs up or thumbs down?
This is what gaslighting does. It turns a few delayed applications for 501(c)(3) status into "Obama siccing the IRS on his enemies".
Undoubtedly, you would extend the same courtesy to every president, right? Like if an official in the Trump Administration ordered something illegal, but there seemed to be no evidence that Trump himself ordered it, you would certainly be front and center, immediately, arguing that even though it happened under Trump's watch, he is not responsible for it, right?
And use it as proof that he is a dictator
That sort of behavior would tend to raise your heart rate above comatose level.
I think perhaps at our next coffee date we should go over our own perceptions of what constitutes "drama." If it's okay with you, I'm going to insert that as item #2 on our agenda, after I share my report from white people about our continued progress in subjugating black people, our historical, constitutional and moral right.
I'm heartened that you aren't prone to labeling presidents as "dictators." I should add that I have absolutely no intention of toppling our biumvirate via a coup.
Also, Lois tok the 5th and got off with a simple resignation.

Saying that Obama wronged them? Ok. That settles it I guess.
There were things done wrong. I think I already said that. But many exaggerated the hell out of it like MAS has done.

Or did he encourage it?
After all, he said so.
This is solid Saturday afternoon entertainment.
And, by the way, it should not take other people to get Democrats or Republicans to be critical when one of their guys or their administrations behave badly. I'm tired of having to bring something like this up and hear, "I couldn't agree more." Don't wait for people who aren't in your tribe to bring up the misbehavior of your tribal leaders.
