And they want a shot to make their case to the Republican primary voters.
Whether they win or not, is irrelevant. They want to test the direction of their party.
to tell R voters that they are better than Trump to carry out Trumpism, then that will be a reasonable point. But obviously it is not their reason and they don't agree with Trumpism.
Under your logic, the GOP should cancel their 2020 national convention.
i.e. Republican party took a turn in 2016 by accepting Trump's idea and policy, not just accepting Trump's nomination. The 3 gentlemen think it is a wrong turn, most R think it's a correct turn. In this sense, I mean the direction of the party has already been decided in 2016.
By the way, you do know that this has been done before, right? You do know that there is precedent for this?
And why wouldn’t Trump welcome the challengers to prove his strength?
You seem to be under the impression that Trump doesn't like a fight, which is interesting to say the least. Either way, I don't think Trump has anything to do with it, do you? If he did, all the states would be doing it.

You deal in the micro world. The macro world that needs abundant energy will kiss our ass and that includes Europe and China. You can’t see the forest for the trees. The world’s largest refinery in flames is significant that has nothing to do with debates, MSM or other BS. This is a serious breech of world order.
