World’s largest refinery on fire. Saudi output cut in half. The US will begin to fill the gap

Thanks to Trump crude will flow out of the US to China and Europe and would be even greater if Obama didn’t stop pipelines from being built. Watch our monthly trade deficits fall. Twenty years ago gasoline prices would have doubled in the US. Particularly if the Saudis and Iranians go to war. Take that you anti fossil fuels maniacs. Talk to me again about clean energy. Without Trump $120 crude oil would cause a recession. Not so today. We are the world’s largest oil producer and going higher now. Screw you Merkel with your Russian gas pipeline. Screw you Xi with your dependence on ME oil. Guess what my friend you’re buying from us now.

It would take time and investment for us to increase our production.

Thread Level: 3

Nope you are wrong. We are restricting production due to price. An increase in prices will raise

production to over 12 million barrels per day. Our problem is we lack the export terminals but that will change quickly. How does it feel being the world’s largest energy producer. I’m loving it. Oil keeps the world moving. The one that controls oil rules the world. Remember OPEC? I don’t.

You have no idea what you are taking about, as usual

Which is pretty amazing for someone who claims to have spent decades in the oil biz.

Tell me why I’m wrong. I’ll wait for you to research Wikipedia.

By the way, care to share with me what you do? I’m curious since you seem to be an expert in most areas.

At least one of us wrote a dissertation on the politics of oil

Maybe both of us did. But at least one of us.

And I can tell you that you operate under some delusions about how decisions are made. We are not Rome (whatever that would even mean here).

It’s a global market, with global supply and demand.

That’s all I need to know. Some write and teach others do. I’ve been trading oil since ‘84 how about

you. No I didn’t write a dissertation about oil and just out of curiosity when was it written? I was in the markets which you wrote about. So I guess that makes you more experienced.

Consider something professor. Venezuela and Iran are basically off the market. Why didn’t crude prices jump to $100 per barrel? The Saudi’s will take almost 6 million barrels off the market. Where will Brent prices be tomorrow? I’ll give you time to reread you dissertation before you answer.

On Brent or WTI? Glad we make our own oil. I would be more worried about Europe and China

Brent. Back down to 12. We are all in it together, however - energy independence is an illusion.

It’s much better to have worked at a gas station for decades.

I yield to your superior instincts.
