According to the story the Vatican took 90% of the over $50 million donated to fund the Vatican deficits. Instead the Peter’s Pence funds are preached at Catholic church’s around the world as the Pope’s fund to help the poor. Maybe the Pope was too busy lecturing global business leaders about greed or fighting global warming to notice this fraud.
Still don’t think the church is corrupt? Don’t like pointing this stuff out but we belong or support an institution that is totally corrupt and needs a house cleaning from top to bottom.

I’m unbiased. When I see corruption anywhere I call it out. I’m tried of covering for our Church. There are two swamps. There is the DC swamp and the Catholic swamp in the Vatican.

But I thought the story didn't live up to the hyped headline. a) I had never heard of Peter's Pence b) The Pope is allowed to use it in any way he deems fit c) It's not like they were spending it on hookers and blow.
The Church is fixed-asset rich and cash poor. It's a real problem for them. Not sure what the solution is.

The Elton John movie Rocket Man. And I’m a believer. So don’t take this post as being anti Catholic. I’m anti corruption.
Interesting that it is "Peter's" pence, though, eh? Maybe there is some kind of tie to Peter? :-)
I'll look into it. I can't get immediately outraged by everything I read on the internet. But, I'll ask around about it.
poor which we are told the Pope specially users the money to help the world’s poor. Why not be honest and say this goes to the Pope if he wants to pay Vatican bills, so be it.

We don't write a check every sunday, so we don't use the envelopes. We just have a direct monthly payment which automatically goes out of our account to our parish. I realize that means I miss out on the extra envelopes they give you for special collections. When they have a second collection at Mass, I'll drop some cash in, but they've never done that for Peter's Pence.
around the world are totally frustrated with all our institutions and unfortunately that includes the church. I believe it’s the reason for millennials not trusting anyone or anything. Who can blame them.
