Lest anyone think this is hopeless, people will surprise you. You will be called names and have every logical fallacy in the book thrown at you, but most of the adults and most of the young people have a sense that indoctrination and thought policing is wrong. All it takes is one person to break the social norms to establish new ones. The other thing necessary is for teachers to publicize this stuff when it happens. Let the community know what is happening. Teachers like this guy end up having discussions with their spouses when this time comes. Ultimately, you have to look at the man in the mirror at the end of the day and do what is right, regardless the professional repercussions. I would be a hypocrite if I continually pointed out the cowardice of college profs who refuse to speak up, all the while not doing the same at my level.

I remember listening to some of the crappy my kids said they were taught over 12 years and being quite amazed. This was all Catholic schools that I was paying for by the way. I disabused them of some of the worst of it. They came out no worse for wear though, being cynically skeptical of BS like their old man.
It makes them more likely to believe crazy shit, like pee-pee tapes and Russia hoaxes.
I’ll ask them to read the Senate intelligence committee report and let me know what they think about whether it was a hoax.
Obviously you haven’t. Your pal was a Russian asset as well as the instigator of a riot against his own govt. You should be so proud.

Imagine Thanksgiving dinner when someone asked him to "pass the putin, please."

The past four years testify to this in spades.

Y principal and two Woke teachers were holding court with some students at lunch a few weeks ago and I patiently let them finish. After student said that teaching kids white privilege just provokes anger in kids, she said something to the effect of, "Well they need to be taught." I jumped in and stated a number of things I always state here. I said that teaching kids that they have some sort of "original sin" isn't productive. I talked about the research on implicit bias training, namely that it is bunk. When my principal shared an anecdote about a friend in Arizona and said something about police-suspect encounters, I made the female Woke teacher nearly cough up her lunch by referencing the Harvard study that found that a slightly higher percentage of white suspects are shot by cops than black suspects. She, of course, did not want to hear that. When my principal pushed back and made the argument that disproportionate percentages of blacks are arrested, I pointed out to him that the comparison should not be arrest rates to share of the population, but rather crime commission rates. It's important for the kids to see that an adult will engage on these issues and not cower.
