Donald first asked if Alan Hale Jr. was still around.
the man is stretched thin. He also has his slums he needs to lord over.
I think overseeing the Navy and also solving poverty would fill up the rest of his week.

Would you want the MSM polling girls at ND or your high school (or other high schools in your metro area growing up) looking for someone to say you acted like a cad by 2020 standards? I sure wouldn't. Just the smearing on national TV from anonymous sources that your wife and kids and parents have to listen to? After the first few people went through that gauntlet, I figured that was the goal of the Left:
Make it so that no one would work for the president.
The price of going through confirmation hearings was too high for any decent person.
I think it is safe to say that the Left largely succeeded in that goal.

Nominate....reach time limit...nominate someone else...
Meanwhile acting person doesn't face confirmation hearings.

I don’t see a commander’s concern over his command as being a political issue. It’s in the best tradition of the service.
Now, since it has been publicized and the Navy likely doesn’t like that, I wouldn’t bet on his chances to make admiral.
He likely knew the risk and again props his way.
