Anyone who says James is a better player than Jordan needs to have their head examined. Everyone knows of Jordan's will to win, but "The Last Dance" completely brought out his total obsession with it. Stats are one thing; getting it done when it matters is another.

Chamberlain is the greatest individual player of all time. Russell is the greatest team player.

Do you downgrade The Big O, Elgin Baylor, Dave Bing, George Gervin, Walt Bellamy for the small number of or nonexistent championships they all were parts of during their careers? Do you rank Luc Longley above David Robinson?
What I've found is that this standard is what hack sportswriters and some kind of dopey fans.
Offense is half the game. No one at any position can be regarded as the best ever at that position with mediocre offensive numbers, no matter how great he was defensively.

It is beyond childish to suggest I discredit any of those players by elevating Russell.
Chamberlain being the prime example.
Best individual player I ever saw.
Yet, by Wilt’s admission, Russell did more to help his team.

Phil Jackson is overrated and Russell isn't even the greatest Celtic.

As much as I hate LeBron though I would choose him before Jordan to build a team around. His overall statistics are more complete in terms of rebounding, assists, but you can't discount Jordan's six titles
LeBron moving around from Cleveland, Miami and now LA show he is much better at making those around him better. Not sure Jordan was as good at that but once again he has six rings to argue that.

In the early part of his career Jordan felt like the only way his team was going to win is if he put everyone on his back and carried them. It appears Doug Collins supported this approach.
When Collins was fired and Phil Jackson came in, Phil convinced Michael that by incorporating his teammates more into the game the Bulls had a better chance at championships. Jackson flat out told Jordan his stats would go down but the team's success would go up. Jordan agreed to give it a try and it worked.
In other words, Jackson shared the lesson Magic taught him. Magic....

I wasn’t referring to the offense but to the approach of lifting the
players around you and making them better. That is more important than whatever offense he chooses to implement.
That was Magic’s greatest contribution to the game, and Jordan would have been Dominique Wilkins without it.
In The Last Dance the specific discussion between Jackson and Jordan was about the triangle offense.
A team offense vs. Jordan-centric offense.
Magic had nothing to do with it.
