with treats, which is apparently what set her off. Figures you joined the mob like everyone else.

I see nothing different being reported.
If you’re going to scold me you better have the information to back it up.
So far you have no new info.

I don't get it. The mindset is either "my dog is trained to follow my commands" or perhaps "I know he won't run off."
It's insane. No matter how well-trained you think your dog is, they aren't always predictable when they see other people or dogs or whatever. Leash them.
trained their dog, like this woman in the clip. They haven’t a clue how to and for the most part, not all dogs can be trained well enough to be off a leash in a densely populated neighborhood. Leash your dog.
On the flip side - I had a cocker spaniel who was voice trained off the leash. She was never off the leash in the city other than when isolated in our uptown park at 6am to play frisbee. Mind you, this was one smart and well trained dog. On total voice command and a loving dog that never growled or barked.
Often I see people with their dogs off the leash which doesn’t bother me. What is bothersome is not picking up after the dog. And that’s what happens when people don’t leash their dogs here. They let them wander to do their biz and it’s not cleaned up.
But this woman should go to jail for awhile and be forced to give up her dog. The way she behaved with the dog was unconscionable. The whole incident cries out for civil punishment.
I didn't watch the video, but she essentially filed a false police report. I'd imagine N.Y. has a stiff punishment for that.
And from the write-up, she seems quite well-practiced at that routine.
