They have spent their entire conscious lives desperately seeking tribal approval via social media and other public platforms that they have absolutely no concept that this stuff can and does go viral and can and does have ripple effects in the real, actual world.
This girl seems double-confused: It never occurred to her that there was anything wrong with broadcasting violent threats towards a subset of people, and it never occurred to her that such public outbursts might have real-world consequences.

They become astonished to discover that outside their group there are different points of view. Unfortunately they no longer see the opportunity to have an open discussion instead they feel they are being victimized and strike out against those who think differently. When others strike back it reaffirms their beliefs as being victims.
A very troubling problem that is sweeping our country.
