Patti LaBelle's original was every bit as good and was even in a Bond film. Why did we need Celine's version 3 years later?
For instance - why would Celine Dion do a cover of this tune? Probably because it's not such a bad tune - Roy Orbison did this song but then it was not released - Cindy Lauper did a cover of it and it didn't do as well
as maybe it could - The writers or their estate might have given it to Celine Dion thinking it would do better if she recorded it - They were right. Also it became the driving force for a successful car commercial
and big exposure for her Las Vegas act. - She does a great job on this song even if the video sucks bigly. Note - no one does covers of Barbara Streisand tunes (at least no successful covers that I know of - the reason
is, once she sings a song, no one else can do it as well so why bother).

Shit. Artists reinterpret their own stuff. Arrangement and production are wonderful tools and some melodies shouldn’t be chained to one interpretation.
And I'll resist the urge to point out that you're in a Bruno Mars cover band.

And that's whether you like her or not.
And where all the power is.
It was incredible.
She was incredible. The orchestra was incredible. I could go on and on.
Most definitely a terrific vocalist -
here's another.

Nice pipes in that family.
"Joplin offers a vocal timbre that can only be described as an impression of Tom Waits after he had gargled a quart of hydrochloric acid and had his testicles placed firmly in a vice."
