Didn't this turn out beautifully? THe Biden people now ended up with someone who implied Biden is a racist, who was wasted in a debate by the candidate that the smart people here tell me is a nutjob and "Russian asset," whose presidential campaign of her own lasted barely longer than Scott Walker's. Well done, kids, well done. And how about the other apparent finalists? Pocahontas, and two looney tunes, one of whom is trying to operate a shadow governorship, and the other who really, really dug Castro. What a process!
Yes, as we all know, the base demanded a broad as a running mate. Well, no, the polling said just the opposite, but we needed to rationalize this idiotic decision somehow. Lord knows the base never, ever would've tolerated Sherrod Brown of Ohio, which, by the way, is a relatively unimportant state electorally. No sir, an economic populist from a swing state is not what this candidate needed!

the lefties, young, and the ladies. It had to be a woman. Only question was which one.
Female Democratic voters were not demanding a female VP pick in any significant numbers. You're rationalizing a stupid decision.
And given the party, the dynamics and the geriatric, moderate candidate I would put money on my assertion.
Now if this was another party, or a normal election, I would prolly agree with you.
Here the gender choice was obvious and even glaring. It meant zero to announce it ahead, although he did it to try to attract the very voters. I’m talking about.
I explained why Harris and the other supposed finalists were weak choices and why Brown would've been a more popular and better choice electorally. All you're doing is argument by assertion. There isn't any data that supports the idea that the female base of the Dems demanded a female VP pick. It was a stupid decision. I suspect it will turn out there were larger mistakes, like trying to run out the clock with the top of the ticket locked in his basement most of the time. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd like to think something that cynical and anthithetical to what our system is supposed to be about won't be successful.
I also never said the female base demanded a woman. I said that he did it to increase support there and elsewhere. That seems like more than an assertion. Again, why did he announce it so early? Again, to solidify support in those groups where he is weak. Elections are won on the margins. 80K voters in 3 states decided it last time. At best the veep candidate helps there on those margins and I think it will here.
Let’s see who is right come November.
