Is it really appropriate that when my daughter is completing her college applications and answering the question(s) regarding extracurricular activities that I have to think through whether or not she should list being a member of the Young Republicans?
It is a sad state of affairs when you have a child with a 4.6 GPA, 30 ACT score, a Girls State Delegate, a member of the National Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, top 25 ranked distance runner in the state in her class, and yet I feel like listing being a member of the Young Republicans will go against her.

We have run 5 kids thru the process and my wife works with kids on college admissions so while by no means an expert, we have been thru similar discussions.
If she holds a leadership position in the organization and can speak to some leadership attributes, then by all means include it. However, if it is just filling out a page then I would omit. She already seems highly qualified (congrats)
As an example:
One of my sons was advised not to include the fact that he worked as a lifeguard. Nothing wrong with the job and in his case it was great because he was also a collegiate swimmer, BUT suburban kid that is a lifeguard creates an impression that would not benefit him (think privileged white kid.) It was better for him to either 1) get a different job or at least 2) speak to a different working experience. Not exactly the same thing, but I think you will get the point. Just consider how the reader will look at the application.
Best of luck

Got to admit that I just "spit out" some soda as I laughed.

Not in a job interview, not a college application, not anywhere except in a place designed for it.
There are too many extremists and you may trigger one to screw you over.

But, if she believes that her politics is personal and none of the school's business, then do not list it.
Either way is perfectly reasonable. Not a life/death decision.
Good luck to your kid. Sounds like she is a world beater!

Being fluent in another language is priceless.
We had her from December through July 6th.. through the pandemic was interesting.
AFS is a great high school program.

I have attended enough interviews at various colleges and talked with people I know within the process.
Just as you once falsely claimed that the DOJ is above politics, you now do so with academia and admission officers.
P.S. - if you are now worth hundreds of millions of dollars like Nick Sandmann, then the universities do start to look at you differently (as an opportunity).

...YOU wouldn't let politics affect your decision. i firmly believe that. But many others would. I will tell you a specific story sometime privatley.

Important lesson for her to learn right now: We don't live in a free country. Which, of course, is why she is a member of the Young Republicans, to change that. But, for now, she should probably stay under the radar.
If she were a Young BLM member, then that would be ok.
So, which group is being systematically suppressed again??? And which group has power?
see and predict the situation?
Seems grounded.
You don't think there is a reason to think that Academia is controlled by the Left, and that the Left wants to shame the Right and "cancel" the Right at every turn, closing down open debate?
"We don't live in a free country." Drama.
"Which, of course, is why she is a member of the Young Republicans, to change that." Liberals don't like freedom! Or maybe his daughter just really likes low taxes.
"If she were a Young BLM member, then that would be ok." Hypothetical.
He’s gutless and he’s a fake.
I am and have been called many things. Fake never one of them.
Fake ass bitch.

My apologies. Not to divulge too much personal info about you, but according to others you’re a good family man. I will cease my snide comments directed your way.

Maybe list it as a Student Current Events Organization.

After all, this is America. We try to get people fired (and possibly try to keep them from going to school) if people have certain political views. It's what we do.
