Although, to be fair, I loathe most Green Day garbage.
dying on September 1, 1982 when the son was only 10 years old.
And now...back to the Friday Lite thread, everybody!
Truly not my intention.
(Actually only brought it up because i learned the background behind the song many years after it came out.)
The drippy, vomit-inducing Peter Cetera ballads are simply disgusting.
What a stain on the memory of Terry Kath.
I know those ballads were huge money makers, but, Holy Moly, not sure Chicago would have taken that direction with Terry leading. I heard that he wanted out of the band anyway and Peter wanted to pretty much eliminate the horns when he took control. I saw the original Chicago way back then and it was an extremely powerful show. My personal favorite? "Dialogue".
Also, when Bobby Lamm stopped being at the forefront and writing many of the songs.
I only saw them once at ND.
The ballad version of Chicago had its place. Made them a ton of cabbage. You can hear those songs on every soft rock station in the country. All the chicks love that era of the band. The originals were chock full of soul, jazz, rock, funk, power, substance. That's the version that got them to the R&R HOF.
