The media and left's outrage was non-existent.

I think we all tweak each other here pretty good. Most of it is received well enough. But after the events of the summer and today in DC I fear we are closer to civil war than many of us had ever really thought. Days of smashed windows and looted stores will seem quaint compared to what maybe coming for us as a nation. I hope I'm wrong.

If the Left overreacts, then things will get worse. If they ignore it, things might settle down.
The violence committed all summer against innocent people was always the inevitable result of that kind of language. Always.
And yet the leftist scum perpetuated it for years for political gain. The violence and destruction was always an acceptable side effect to them.
This was always going to happen. It could well get worse.

and Trump condemns the neo nazis.
Here was the standalone answer that included the quoted piece.
"...you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name."
In that same exchange that, he said:
"And you had people -- and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists -- because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly."
He knows what was said - the quote in its entirety - he simply refuses to acknowledge it. He's not very honest about most things and down right deceitful about Trump. He's sort of drifted into that unhealthy zone with regard to the president.
And that would be one thing if say he were simply a failed playwright. But He's a freaking professor at a major US university. That's the frightening part.
In the same statement. You know this.

This could have all been easily avoided. Instead, people were laughed at and dismissed.
I’ve also been telling my leftie friends for years that their appeasement of riots and 24/7/365 grievance culture was ill advised and dangerous.
Let's hope they figure that out.
the odds at that the violence we saw today (though less than last Spring as noted in your post) was perpetrated by ANTIFA et al types who dressed up to make the demonstrators look bad? Who has the history of violence? Who gained from the violence?
I have no way of knowing how credible they are. We'll know more when the arrested are named. If they're antifa scum, this will get memory-holed.
I'm all for roughing up the criminals in congress, state capitals, and city halls
Leave small business owners alone.
So do the squeals for impeachment/removal. Biden's campaign was bailing antifa/blm scum out of jail this summer. Don't expect sane people to cry about Republicans today.
