There's a liberal fox under his black robes. He wants to keep the decision from being reversed and is doing his best to flip one of the true conservative judges.
The libs will build a statue to him if he can do it. They hope that he can follow in the footsteps of Anthony Kennedy, another fake conservative, renegade Catholic.
The Supreme Court had to contort themselves to make the ACA legal, and he’s responsible. F that guy.

If the issue were about abortion I agree that a compromise based on viability would be my preferred resolution,
But abortion is not covered anywhere in the Constitution.
Congress can act and so can the States... but the Courts have no legislative powers.
Roberts probably see it this way but wants to keep the Court out of hot button controversies.

Just ask them where it says that in the Constitution and you will hear crickets chirping.
You can replace “new” with “dumb.”
The Court was set up to decide very specific and enumerated issues... not to substitute itself for the legislature.
We do have mechanisms in place to legalize abortion... at a state or national level.
The SC is not ruling that abortion should be illegal... just that it does not have the jurisdiction to rule on this issue.
That is what this is all about. Pretending otherwise is absurdly disingenuous.
This Court is all about letting the electorate decides political matters.
Why would you oppose that?
that Josh Blackman seemed to imply that congress wouldn't be able to do anything about abortion rights/restrictions. Did I understand that incorrectly? Listen to this if you feel inclined, I thought it was informative.

If a constitutional protection can be steamrolled, what makes you think other legal theory or precedent can be bent? I promise you that there will be alternate theories of the case.
Carry on with your speculation. I guess you have a law degree, too?
