Trade sanctions will not hit badly for a few months
That's when Russian manufacturing will shut down for lack of imported parts.
Fortunately, they will still have a surfeit of unexportable vodka.
I feel very badly for the Russian people. If they had any real choice, Putin would be deposed.
Regarding the sanctions, they have been progressively more significant in the weeks after the invasion thanks to Zelensky’s pleas and political pressure……it was absolutely key that the EU (and esp Germany) finally jumped on board wrt the alternative oil sources. But one has to wonder if the West as a whole had shown this resolve sooner, would Putin have dared to invade?

Dead Ukrainian children is new to you, not to me. 75k fighters, 450 km long front line, in one
of the world’s most mine-contaminated areas since 2014. Nobody cares their casualties. Nobody stands up to ask Ukraine to implement Minsk agreement which granted autonomy of Russian-speaking Donbas. What happened today is extension of what happened since 2014 in more areas.
