…..a lot of separate mistakes occurred for this to happen despite protocols. In medicine, we look at adverse events with this perspective to affect improvements:
Killer gave lots of warning signs on line which were ignored
Killer able to buy a gun without restrictions or evaluation
Mother not providing oversight
Teacher propped locked school door open a minute before shooter used this opening to gain access
School security guard not present (unclear on details of this as of now)
Killer shuts door to lock himself in with kids.
Cops arrive but cowardly wait and vacillate.
Cops hold back parents willing to go in themselves to save children
Cops block rescue team from going in to save children
The thing was an horrible series of mistakes. In medicine, we have found that these types of events are not usually fixed with just one adjustment, but with many.
We are a gun crazy nation, who collectively, have rolled over and played dead since Columbine, ignoring the realities of the Second Amendment’s gateway allowing easy drive thru access to weapons designed to kill people.
The GOP is 95% complicit in enabling mass shootings to keep happening.
At some point, enough is enough.
Stop minimizing the needless “rinse and repeat” horror of these mass shootings. Stop voting for cowardly lions.
……and I am saying that there will be multiple fixes needed to actually correct the problem.
Simply enacting “gun control” won’t stop this type of event.
As usual, you claim that anyone not supporting your own political agenda is an evil killer. You also shamelessly use tragedy to push your agenda.
Here are a few questions for you to consider:
THE 2nd Amendment has been in place for 2 1/2 centuries….why is it suddenly a problem now when it wasn’t before?
What policies contribute to the problem, and have YOU supported any of them? (Manage your own house first).
(Welfare State policies that discourage personal responsibility, separation of Christian values and churches from state functions, establishing policies and laws that diminish the value of human life, drastic reduction of psychiatric healthcare as a side effect of Obamacare).
What present POTUS has been part of the same political machine for the past 50+ years? If the govt has failed in all of these years up until now, who leads the field in having had the most chance to affect change without doing so?
Your vote supported this ultimate swamp dweller, and if you feel there has been government failure up until now, then you bear responsibility as much as anyone else with your vote.
A tiny fraction of baseball or football fans enter the stadium with the intent to blow it up.
Yet, because of terrorism, law abiding passengers and sports fans understand the limited intrusion upon their 4th Amendment rights.
Gun control is one pillar of the problem, but an important pillar and the first one to meaningfully engage as a nation.
Other pillars include mental heath, social media, isolationism, proactive intervention, and kindness.
Start being part of the solution. Vote Democrat.
People in these situations are voluntarily submitting to searches.
Now apply the same reasonable measures that limit our 2nd Amendment expectations.
Thus ends the lesson.

I wouldn't care to make a donation to a Dem organization just so I can learn what they have planned for me. Let them tell me for free. Or, you can tell me. Or, not.
……we might agree because I do see a tightening up of the screening process as necessary….at least in some states. But I cannot see them happening in isolation from other changes which we can discuss depending on your answer.

A bad event occurs. There are usually multiple checks and balances, controls and personal responsibilities, which fail for the event to happen. That's why the event doesn't happen all the time. It might not happen for 10 years, or 20 years. Maybe one or two of the controls would fail, but the other controls would prevent the event from occurring. But, the event probably will happen at some point, and then everyone seeks a single point cause, maybe a single person to blame, when really, it is multiple causes, or multiple controls which all just happened to fail at the same time.
In this case, lazy management being those blaming guns and only guns.

When one does, we look to see what makes sense. Bolster one or more controls?...add a new one?...or not, depending on the cost.
In this case, we should probably reverse our course on mainstreaming the mentally ill, and destroying the family unit. Something has happened in the last 20ish years to change things, and it is time we figured out what it is.
Doing some lazy research: FBI figures show there were 364 murders committed with rifles in 2019 (unknown how many were AR-15s vs other rifles). Bees kill about 100 people a year, and we're trying to save bees.
