sales between individuals?
I am asking because someone I talked to was claiming that.
I know nothing about guns.
Anyone who has bought a gun at a retailer has passed a background check. (Granted, juvenile records are often sealed, so those mentally ill teens most likely to shoot up schools often have a clean record when they turn 18. We need to eliminate the juvenile system, or at least make their records searchable. I am told that some states allow that depending on who is searching, but some states do not allow it at all.)
There are no loopholes for gun shows (as conor suggested the other day). All retailers at gun shows have the federal forms (which the buyer completes) and they have cell/internet connections, and they run background checks...or they don't sell guns.
However, individuals (people who don't sell guns for a living) can give or sell a privately owned gun to another individual. Not sure of the wording of the actual statutes or regulations. This is just what I have seen.
Straw purchases (buying a gun for a criminal) are illegal. Lying on forms (like Hunter Biden did) is illegal. (However, if you are a politically connected Democrat, you can get away with that, and Democrats won't say anything.)
individual transactions…say between a father and son. It would mean a record must be kept, and that also implies that the govt was notified of every private transaction. Right?
If so, then this is a move that would attempt to give the govt knowledge of where every weapon is and with whom.
Orwellian.
And typically deceptive of the Democrats.
