"prosecutors confront Justice Department guidelines to generally avoid bringing politically sensitive cases close to an election, according to people briefed on the matter."
Hmmm, I was reminded of reading this a few weeks back, double standard?

Let's say that the rumors are right, and Trump had classified - highly classified - materials in his house. Illegally.
Just suppose.
Should the Justice Department do nothing? Pretend he doesn't have the stuff? Let him get away with doing whatever he wants, because he used to be president?
Was there a legitimate legal issue? Possibly.
Was the show of force necessary? No way.
The least instructive methods needed and maintain public trust. The FBI failed both tests. This was political.

I believe that presidents and other elected officials should be held to a higher standard when it comes to enforcement of the law, not lesser. I'll throw Blagoyevich Hastert and Weiner out as examples.
You seem to think that presidents should be exempt, I don't.
But that isn't what my post is about. I read a few weeks ago that the prosecutors would/should or could slow walk Hunter Biden's (who isn't running for election) because of the upcoming election. This seems like a double standard. Perhaps it isn't, and I'm open to that possibility, but I'd like an explanation.
And we won't know for months, probably.
But there is no way - no way in hell - any judge or AG would let this happen without thinking all these issues through. They obviously thought it was pretty important.
And, despite what the board here thinks, I promise you that politics did not enter into it. If anything, politics made the raid less likely.

You have to admit the timing is suspect. I mean this has been an open issue since January 2021.
