makes or breaks a team. Mooney's 3's kept us in but his missed 3 foul shots took us out. (Along with Gibbs unusually missing 2, Farrell 1 and Torres of course missing 2)
Every athletic contest there are what I call "indicators" that, upon looking back, clearly demonstrate themselves as to who will win and who will lose. Case in point for football a few years ago when South Florida and USC both returned fumbles 98+ yards for touchdowns. You just knew that it wasn't to be ND's day.
And when Mooney missed those 3 consecutive free throws, that was all the indicator I needed. I told my wife at that point the game was over. And unfortunately I was right.
Yes, you were. After playing hard and surviving the terrible shooting of most of the team, Mooney misses the 3 FT's and the competitive game came to an end. Mooney and Geben played well. Of been saying it since early in the season, ND's low shooting percentage is their biggest weakness.
