At ND it's easier to recruit shooters than athletes. Westhead didn't care if you scored two's. Get the ball out of the net & go. Notre Dame's crowds are pretty quiet. This was a very exciting brand of ball.

I think that its great drawback is that you don't have enough players close enough to the basket to get rebounds.

It's hard to establish position for rebounding in this system.
In the example demonstrated, the point guard wound up in the paint. Good luck with that. Also, the weak side wing player was the only other player in real conention for the ball.
The defense is likely to have three against your two when going for the rebound. It's a numbers game that works against you.
