more aggressively over the last several years and his body of work has improved greatly. Two Final 8s in a row!?
His tactics haven't changed, his targets have. He doesn't chase higher profile 'long shots' as much as he used to but focuses on guys who fit and he has a good chance of getting. Quite frankly, I don't think Brey (and I think he is a excellent fit for ND and am happy to have him as coach) would know what to do with a true star player.
Brey has defined the style of play he wants and he recruits players to that scheme. Thus, as his players progress though his system, it becomes 'plug and play' so you don't see the ups and downs based on graduation. For example, when Vasturia graduates, he will have a guy ready for that role. When Farrell graduates, he will have a guy ready for that role, etc etc. In essence, ND has become a Wisconsin-like program that recruits 2nd tier players that fit into a less sexy offensive system but gets them to perform at a high level within it.
I think the way he has the lads throw the ball around is very entertaining.

And it was the at least second time that consensus was reached.about Brey. After missing the tournament for the third year in a row (2006) was the first time. Then again in 2009, as I remember, but I'm too lazy to look it up.
If the team tanks from here, you'll start hearing again about Brey's many shortcomings (recruiting, short bench, defense, etc.)
As greater minds than mine have observed, most people have a memory span of about two weeks.
He's a great coach who's able to get the most out of his players. He has become the coach K of Notre Dame basketball....Only time will tell if the past season was an aberration for Kelly....but unless we have a 9 or 10 win season with a solid bowl win, time may not be on his side.
