The guy was fired from a head coaching gig for being drunk on the sidelines just over a year ago. Now he's calling plays for the Super Bowl runner up.
Seems legit.

Then again I'd take tommychoc over Kyle Shanahan at this point.
Falcons D.

They were one of the best offenses in NFL history with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and a bunch of nobodies.
Then because he didn't run the ball up 8 inside field goal range.
As I said, I disagree with the choice to throw on 2nd and 11 there just in terms of strategy, but then they also got to that point by throwing the ball. He trusted Ryan to drop back from his own 11, why not the NE 23? Just as much blame can be placed on Ryan, IMO.
But heat of the moment with dudes flying at you is different than on the sideline between plays. On the 3rd and 1 he should have taken a sack (clock rolls and then you punt). On the 2nd and 11 he should have thrown it away (stayed in FG range). That said, pass plays were called for the purposes of making a play, which is what he tried to do. Since really the only thing that needed to happen in both situations was to not fuck up....run plays should have been called.
I think most people are more forgiving of in-game mistakes by players due to the degree of difficulty.

Obviously Shanahan did an awesome job all year to get them to the point the game was pretty much won...then he calls a pass play on 2nd and 11 from the NE 23 (in FG range) with the game almost over. Only possible bad outcomes to the play would be a sack, incompletion (would stop clock), an INT or a fumble.
Best thing to do would have been run Freeman up the middle with the ball secure. Even if he gains no yards or loses 1 the Falcons still win (their kicker was 28/29 inside 50 yards this year). Why call a pass?
He also should have run it on the play Ryan fumbled...I think that was 3rd and 1 from about mid-field. Even if they don't pick it up and have to punt, they probably win since the Pats would have had to eat more clock to drive the length of the field.
because they were totally incapable of stopping the Brady passing game
But just go ahead and blame it all on Shanahan and that one play
That play should have never been important if the Falcons had a secondary.
That's ridiculously bad playcalling. Unless Quinn had input on whether to run or pass, the blame for this is squarely on Shanahan.
They just fired the Defensive Coordinator......

Yeah the Notre Dame defense played fine in 2016 as well.
The fact of the matter is, it was important, and it was a catastrophe.
I'm sure you'd give Brian Kelly the same benefit of the doubt on that one.

He has a loaded team to work with, including the best WR currently in the game, and the second best QB. He can rebuild his career more quickly in the pros than he could have in college, even if he were under Saban.
