How do you drop back and take a sack when you just run the ball and kick a field goal and go up 11. I thought it was Brian Kelly calling the plays. They could have run to a Super Bowl victory and instead took the passing route and lost.
...had their money in the wrong place???
If you're ND fans you should be celebrating. The Pats and Brady should be reminders of what ND once was, and also you should be able to see the remarkable parallels of peer jealousy and pettiness that ND and The Pats endure. The owners openly admit the treacherous frame job they did on Kraft. Pats fan or not, it was worth that win by them just to see the giant s**t sandwich Kraft rammed down Goodell's throat.
It has been SO long since anyone was jealous of ND football. You really took the time to draw this analogy. Sad.
Old baby boomers with inflated opinions of their relevance that strike out when their flamer cover is exposed.
You sir are intellectually dishonest. Any fool could tell I was alluding to ND in historical terms vis a vis my reference to what..."ND once was".
By the way, how much did you lose on your "beloved Falcons" from your home state?
was, and also you should be able to see the remarkable parallels of peer jealousy and pettiness that ND and The Pats endure.
Ineresting, that sure sounds to me like the present day.......you didnt say once endured.....you are implying that ND fans should be celebrating.
It was a totally bullshit comment, and you know it

You are a prick and I think you know that......I called you out and you're trying to deflect
You are so full of shit
Agree that it was the biggest collapse in sports history.
Bigger choke than the Yankees in 2004?
They would have been literally better off just taking a knee 3 times and then kicking.

Given the clock situation an incompletion is also a bad result.

If only the fans could call all the plays; offenses would be much more prolific.
going on for years. Ok?
What makes a coach a great play caller 90% of the time, often makes them a terrible play caller 10% of the time (when it makes sense to be conservative).

y that out into the real world, should anyone ever be able to critique politicians, parents, CEO's, etc?
I'm guessing the, apparently, veiled message behind my post is that when it comes to elite competitive football, when a strategy or scheme is unsuccessful the fan is quick to place blame on a particular singular factor. Coaches play calling is a popular target of criticism. Atlanta had the most effective offense in the NFL this year. I'd argue that their offensive coaches are knowledgeable and skilled in football strategy. There's a host of factors that go into success on a football field.
Blaming a coach just fulfills the psychological need to assign blame, when there's likely a host of factors that would mitigate that "blame."
And just to be clear, this is a post in support of Kelly's continued tenure at Notre Dame. I think he's a really good football coach that had a sub-standard year.

Actually I have zero rooting interest in professional football. I do not think Atlanta even has a fan base as it is a transient city. It was a fun game to watch after half and I am in awe of some of the skill level on display. Julio Jones and Brady were incredible down the stretch. I just cannot believe how these so called great coaches make unreal errors at critical times. If Ryan checked off on the sack, I would be in error here but there was no report he did. I can see why Peyton called his own plays.
Time management was the key there and there was zero help from the staff. 11 point lead with a made field goal and NE having to burn timeouts trying to get even would have been sheer impossible for them to win. That was Andy Reid/Brian Kelly football in crunch time and it was a disaster.
