of quality and developmemrnt of players. I guess it's the best we can hope for with a 4-8 record.
possibly a middle linebacker and maybe a couple of early entries.

And that spans back to Lou.

The one I was surprised did not pan out was Cole Luke. He was a high recruit coming out of high school. The secondary has been poorly coached for years. They would showboat after making a tackle 15 yards downfield. Severe lack of discipline from the head coach on down.
Remarkable.

...and still got drafted in the 2nd round. There are lots of examples of Kelly failing to develop players, but hard to say Kizer is one when he gets picked in the 2nd round. You make the 2nd round sound like he is going to play in Canada or something.
Had 14 drafted in 2016. That accounted for much of last year. Losing all four experienced DB's and having to play frosh plus the impact of BVG accounted for the rest. The good is that so much talent returns. Michigan had a large number drafted. Lets see how they do next year, altho they play a nothing schedule.
Lack of talent plus confused defense explains 4-8. 2017 will be dramatically improved and a much better defense and w-l record against a harder schedule, as long as Wimbush stays healthy and is not asked to win games by himself. I was all for Kelly being replaced but since that didn't happen I think we got the next best thing- dumped shitty assistants. The new ones should be a big upgrade but of course that remains to be seen. If Kelly does really turn the offense and defense over to his new coordinators I expect they will do well.
ND has done pretty well in the draft lately. One year doesn't define it.
Looking at the 2018 draft - who will be selected : My guess is McGlinchey, Morgan,Mustipher, Nelson, Tranquill, Trumbetti, Bars, possibly Greer and Cage. Am I smoking or will all these be in an NFL camp in
the summer of 2018?
This includes early exits who hopefully will decide to stay. Also I'm sure some of my picks will turn out wrong.
First round: Nelson & McGlinchy
Second Round: Mack
Third Round: Morgan, Tillery, St. Brown, Adams
Fourth Round: Tranquill, Trumbetti, Bars
Fifth Round: Martini, Watkins
Sixth Round: Cage
UDFA: Smythe, Biven, J Hayes, Weisher, Mustipher
Trumbetti, Greer, Cage, and Mustipher would need huge breakout seasons to be in the draft. Possible, but with the trajectory that they are on, I can't see it. The others, yes, pretty likely

Just listen to NDinTN. He actually PREDICTED what was going to happen.
