I know they haven't been great offenses, but that's pretty impressive for a college defense given how wide open offenses can be today. The D has been pretty freaking good, but surprisingly it seems like they could actually get a lot better.
Are we just scratching the surface with this unit, outperforming, or right about where you would expect?
This D has over achieved but it has suffered injuries and is a bit dinged up
What we saw vs Stanford was the most complete defensive game we have played in a longgg time. D was good vs Wake, but it was Wake and it wasn't complete. The D closed out the Stanford game STRONG.
And I believe it has a lot to do with their confidence growing that they can play balls out because the O won't string them out on the field all game. The more this confidence grows the higher their intensity level will rise.
Add to that, teams are going to have to make a decision going forward whether to allow Tillery to have the NCAA sack record or double team him every play...if they double team him it will open things up for others, if not he is going to snowball into an avalanche.
Mentally you know that you have help and if you allow a touchdown or field goal it is not the end of the world. Plus driving the ball down the field enables the defense to recover and play fresh.
at your own discretion.
IMO that is the sign of a great offense, not just the ppg stat. Main reason I never considered Weis the offensive genius many did /do.

Once the freshmen from last season are seniors in this system I believe the returns will be greater. The staff is great. I love the Lea hire and the Balis hire. I hope we keep both for a long time.
Currently I think the D Line is over achieving. Great group but not elite coming in.
Linebacker play has been steady I guess for a handful of years.
I really like the improvement of the DBs. Specifically the ability to “find the ball” and not be seen chasing a wide open receiver all the time.
Overall the Defense is much improved and playing inspired.
That seems pretty good.

I am surprised a bit with Love's numbers. I assumed they would go at Pride and avoid him I thought he would show "low" plays his way. But they keep going there. I think he will eventually make someone pay. I thknk our second best cb is very good . We r blessed.
Would tou take 1 Teo or 1 Tevon and 1 Drew. We seem nicely stacked in front 7
