Everyone keeps talking about BK is the best since Lou, and we're number 3, if we win out and blah blah blah.
We're 7-0 Great, but we've been here several times before........
It's Still Brian Kelly that we are talking about, it's crazy nobody remembers how he likes to S#!+ the Bed.
Last year 8-1 we looked good and was possibly a bad call away from beating Georgia. We go into Miami and it's a complete Cluster F.
EMBARRASSED as Usual with Brian Kelly Prepped Teams. Hell look at this year, it's ok to have a Down game once a year it happens, but we barely beat BALL STATE, VANDERBILT, and Pitt.PITT plays everybody close. Yeah? how do you think Alabama would have played against Pitt? That's right business as usual. Why because Bama has so many better players then us, NOPE. We are Stacked, like really really stacked with Players. But it's our coaching. PERIOD.
Ya'll want to keep drinking that BK Kool-Aid go for it. But I drank it before, and it gave me food poisoning. So Hold off until BK get's us a Natty or even loses a good CLOSE game in the Natty, then no, I don't believe. Sure it looks good right now on the outside. But my gut tells me it's the same old turd on the inside.
I hope I'm wrong, the players deserve success. But BK isn't a great coach. He's a Great recruiter. He's great at throwing players under the bus and making excuses. But he's just an ok Coach at this level. The situation now at Notre Dame reminds me of the Texas Situation with Mack Brown. Mack Brown wasn't good, but Texas got the recruits, always have, (unitl Mack Brown started losing them all) Anyway Texas won the title in 2005, because of his players that carried him, not his coaching. Notre Dame finally has good to great players across the board, and they are carrying BK. JMHO.
Time will tell.
I'd Love to be wrong. I'd Love to Win a title.
But it will probably end like it always does in a Train vs pedestrians and lots of hard liquor.
Go Irish !!!!!

Nobody is canonizing Kelly here at UHND.
But we arenβt lynching him either. Now go refill the glass of vinegar that youβre drinking from because itβs half empty.

I'd give anything for 158-48, 10 Bowl wins, 9 double digit win seasons, 1 national title runner-up and 1 national title in a 16 year period.
Sure, it's only because he got the players.
My honest take on Brown has always been the same. He's not a "Great" coach but he's a darn good one, with no glaring holes in his craft (which is more than you can say for Kelly). When you add to that 'good' coaching foundation a guy who is flat out one of the best recruiters we've seen in our generation, the product he puts on the field is pretty elite.
I'd trade him for Kelly TODAY! and consider it an immediate and significant upgrade...heck, I'll even throw in a pack of Skittles and a Gatorade for ESPN to sweeten the deal.

**Step Right Up, Step Right Up People**
irishshart has lies for days and they're at prices so low, he's practically giving them away.
I'm working on a new sig, maybe you can help me refine it a lil..
"irishshart - the best turd the 4th Recruit Training Battalion has ever, produced"

But seriously, what do you think of the "Irishshart User Instructions" for my new sig... could really use some input here from the dirt people populus.

BTW, I am not a huge fan of Kelly. With that being said, he is the best football coach since Lou. I base that statement on the wining percentages of Bob, Ty, Charlie and Brian.

Remind me, where is it exactly?
there is a black cloud over Urbie's situation at osu (including his health) and then there is everyone else.
The next best coach is (fill in the blank) until he isn't. I'm not saying Kelly is a very good coach but ND
could do worse (and have).
we were the most total NC winning team in the land, by the most different coaches.
We didn't hold on to a guy out of fear of there being no one else better...that wasn't our model.
The model was you got 5 years to win a title or you're gone....and the model worked, until WE broke it!
Kelly is 4 years (and counting) outside of the model, every additional year we keep him that he doesn't win a Title is another year in the wrong direction and "possibly" a year we missed out on the guy who would have been the next Knute, Frank, Ara, Devine, or Hotz.
The sooner we get back to our historical model for success, the sooner we'll return to our historical success.

And don't pretend you have any more knowledge of what coaches we could actually get than any other Joe Schmo who goes to ND web sites.
The model is historically and statistically proven effective. period

Just a fact man....but it also happens to be a fact without much merit as the others he's compared to since Lou were total epic failures, who quite honestly weren't even qualified to be hired.
O'Leary and Kelly we're the only two who were even qualified to attempt the job, and O'Leary never got a chance to even step on the sideline as our coach, so while saying Kelly is the best since Lou is true it is also pretty non-flattering.
Relax man, he'll either trip, stumble and land on a Natty or we'll get rid of him around year 15 or 17...what's the big deal?? lol!
I am still shocked that Kelly basically tore it all down and rebuilt it with new coordinators and strength program and admitted that he had to change.
If he manages to guide ND to 12-0 in the regular season here and reaches the playoffs, that would give him a 22-3 record since he made those changes. That's pretty impressive. If that happens to, I think he's easily bought himself another lifeline. I don't think he'll need it though. At this point I think he has ND in the position that we all thought we were in heading into 2013 (finally). I also think he'll walk away shortly after his daughter graduates from ND.
I still see all his same stubborn tendencies, they just haven't bit us as often lately.
Serious question:. How many years is enough time without a championship, to realize it's time to move on? 10? 12? 15? How many coaches in history have ever won a Title if they didn't do it in their first 10 years at that program? Heck, same question for 5 years....maybe a few outliers, but I'd bet the vast majority of coaches who won a title at Program A, did it within 5 years of going there, and guarantee that is likely in the 99 percentile range if you look at 10 years.
At some point we have to accept, that better than the others since Lou just isn't good enough...10 years seems more than fair to me, considering no one else in our history ever got close to that much time.
Luckily for us someone else forced his hand at QB and it luckily for him has saved his job (I don't know this for fact, but BK did not want to see anyone but BW playing QB).
player that picks ND over all other schools. Similar to Stanford, I just don't think the talent pool is big enough for ND. I do think ND should be in the playoffs 2 out of every 5 years and inside the top 10 every year, but I don't see a championship coming again in the current world.
Talent follows consistent winning, the talent pool is plenty big enough for ND...the 10+ win seasons just need to become the norm instead of the anomaly and then our talent will build up.
If this happens at the same time as we have a HC who is capable of going to to toe with Saban, we'll be fine...if it happens while we have Kelly he'll shit the talent away with his gimmicky I'm smarter than the World BS.

reputable brand and brought in athletes. Now we just need a damn football coach.
Absolute worst gameday coach I ever seen at any level..He only lasted 5 yrs because of TY's players, Quinn, Samardjia, Walker, etc, etc..THat 19-6 record first two years saved him, but the minute he had to stand on his own two feet, and his own recruits, he fell off a cliff, going 3-9, enroute to 16-21 his last 3 seasons..Its year 3 we really find about a lot about a coach; ND found ouT he was a total disaster..
He never should have been allowed 5 years..Lost to a horrible Cuse team, UCONN, Pitt, Navy..IMO, he's the worst coach in ND history; worse than Joe (17-23) Kuharich..

than Weis ever knew...and the first two yrs were with the mess that Weis left...Weis was an unmitigated disaster; a blowhard of the highest order,,He got a lot of mileage, ILl say that for him, out of those Super Bowls, when the whole world knows, that's the Belichick/Brady show..the coordinators come and go in NE with the team never missing a beat..WEis got exposed at ND, Florida, the KC Chiefs and U OF Kansas..The money that man made, and took especially from ND, is insane....
than the ones you listed for Weis. period
That was in yr 4 of Weis era to a maybe 2 win team with a QB son of a celebrity who was horrible...Kelly's terrible Tulsa loss was with a freshman QB , Rees pressed into action..in BK's year 1...and the subsequent loss to Navy in yr 1, was a 9-4 Navy team, way better than the Cuse..

Kelly, 6-2...
Don't know how I forgot that, I guess the trauma of '09 was more damaging than I realized.
I still say losing to Duke in year 7 is worse, but concede that Navy is a wash. Wasn't trying to argue that Weis was better, just that Kelly's low points have been lower...I'd take Kelly over Weis 9 days a week, but that's more an indictment of Weis than a statement for Kelly.
(no message)
Biggest mistake with Weis was giving him those last couple years... writing was on the wall but everyone wanted to squint hard an hope it went away.
Despite the 2007 season, the momentum of The Program at that point was way better than after 2009 which meant the replacement would have had an easier start.
I'm hoping we don't repeat this mistake with Kelly...10+ win seasons or playoff appearances with respectable performance there should be the bare minimum going forward for him. Next 8 or 9 win season from him, buh bye!
if he doesn't bring home the title this year or next, I'd rather make it while the program has momentum instead of waiting too long like we did with Weis and then we have to climb out of Kelly's next 4-8 stink bomb.
