If Wimbush plays within himself and eliminates ints, keeps hitting a couple long balls and the defense stops Syracuse run game, next week’s contest should be an easy win.
Assuming Wimbush plays, the one part of the offense that is better with him in the game is the zone read. Teams have to account for him on the edge which opens up the middle of the field. It's why Josh Adams had so many long runs last year and Dexter had a couple similar ones against a very good FSU front 7.
If ND avoids TOs and ST miscues they should be fine even without Book.
Edit: Sounds like Book should be back. Even better.
I’ll take some of what you are drinking
we just "couldn't" run the ball against them, because they wouldn't 'let' us..
By any measure. Like it or not, that was a good rushing performance by ND.

They are
93rd in scoring defense
85th if 1st downs allowed
110th in passing defense
45th in 1st downs allowed
38th in rushing defense
. . . on the ground. Close to 27%. So, yeah, their run D ranking tumbled to #38 AFTER ND ran all over them. That is actually points in favor of the fans lauding ND's rushing effort against FSU. I get you are trying to a voice of reason type against the "sunshine and rainbows" crowd -- most times it adds a good balance to the board. But this time you are simply wrong. What ND did rushing Saturday was impressive, and you can't spin it otherwise.
Awesome, incredible, amazing.
But FSU sucks period. They have been embarassed mutliple times.
We won, beat them handily and will remain #3 in CFP rankings.
Sorry if I dont get overly excited about beating a shitty team.
I think if you take the focus off 'that' we beat them and shift to 'how' we beat them, there actually is something to be at least a little excited about.
For example, Clemson is the only team that beat FSU by more than we did and that is with us going into clock kill mode for the last quarter and a half...I didn't watch the game when they played Clemson, so I don't know how aggressive they were still playing in the second half, but based on how we've seen Clemson run up some scores I'd have to believe they didn't show FSU any mercy. However if you look at the first half when you can assume both they and we were playing them at or near the same effort level, they outscored them 28-0 in the first half while we outscored them 32-6 in the first half, so that is pretty comparable.
We (most of us) know FSU is junk this year, so its not that we beat them, but that we beat them the way we did WITHOUT our #1 QB...for comparison, we only beat Ball freaking State 24-16 with Wimbush on the field, and as poor of a year as FSU is having they aint Ball freaking State bad.

They were allowing fewer than 2.9 per carry. ND rushed for 7.3 per carry. Anyone claiming it wasn’t a good rushing performance is just wrong.
