4 - Notre Dame
2 - Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, OU, UGA, Texas
1 - Clemson, Iowa St, Ohio St, Pitt, PSU, UCF, UW, Wazzu, WVU
Tell me again why we shouldn't be #2?
Notre Dame moves to #2, beats USC this week in convincing fashion. Clemson wins out, they stay at #3. Bama loses to Georgia in the SEC title game. Notre Dame to #1, Bama to #4, Clemson to #2, Georgia to #3. Is that what we want?

I don't care who they play in either of the playoff games to get to a National Championship
It's gonna go through them. So might as well roll the ball out there and see what happens.

Add 1 more to the agreed, although I wouldn't bet the house on it. If anybody could lose 2 and still be in it that would be Bama.
Michigan is a favorite, and Alabama couldn't go over Georgia if Georgia beats them.

Who would their resume be better than?
If it truly is about eyeball test, are they really as invisible as we thought if they lose to UGA?
If Michigan wins out they have a better resume and would have a very similar eyeball test with Bama.
None of this matters because Bama isn't losing to UGA, but if they did, I think they are odd team out.

Just saying it doesn't make it true.
The idea that Bama is some favorite among the committee isn't true. It's a false perception.

This assumes that they are not thoroughly curb stomped.
Two can play this game
Perhaps not?
I thought my point was obvious, but I guess I need to spell it out.
Why should Clemson be ranked ahead of Notre Dame?
Let's put it this way: If ND were ranked #1 in preseason, ND would have remained #1 now since nobody beat us and there is no clear reason to drop us. It's a kind of "incumbent advantage".
The committee has addressed this very idea. They start with a clean slate each week. The previous rankings are not considered.
bahhhhahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa
ranking. But I do think they are related. i.e. AP and coach rankings are a big factor in playoff committee's consideration.
to...if the committee was not affected by the human polls there is no way Bama would have started out number 1 this year in the first playoff poll...their resume is incredibly weak.
The coaches and sportswriters polls are not considered.

The committee has addressed this and stated they do not consider these polls, and that they start fresh each week. If you choose to believe they are lying, so be it.
unless they were locked in a dark room for the first month and half of the season and never saw the polls or the ranking next to the team names as they watched game film, there is no way for them to not be affected by those rankings. If you believe the human polls (especially the ones out before the first CFP poll) have no impact on those human committee members you are living in a fantasy land.
#9 Auburn beat #1 UM and ND beat #14 UM in first week. Other ranked teams beat nobody in the rest games of 1st week.

They think Clemson is better than we are
In the eyes of that 12 person committee they think Alabama is better than both Clemson and Notre Dame
In the eyes of that 12 person committee they think Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame are better than 11-0 UCF
This is NOT all about computer rankings...it is a beauty contest
If you havent figured that out then you are a little slow on the uptake
I agree with them...I believe both alabama and Clemson beat us more than half the time.....in the case of alabama they beat us 8/10......Clemson beats us 6-7/10
Sorry if you can't live with that
It's the same reason why LSU with two losses is ranked ahead of teams with only 1 loss
Get over it. Just be happy to make the CFP and hopefully to not have to play Alabama first

They are 7th nationally in total offense...we aren’t even in the top 20
They are nine spots in front of us for total passing
Way ahead of for total rushing
Should I keep going?
You tell me why we are better?
I am waiting
The Clemson offensive line is average. Their freshman QB will be running from pursuit all day, not something he has had to do all year. The ND Back 7 may be the best in the country. Clemson will have a hard time scoring.

On this board.
Odd you asked for real analysis yet everything you have offered is your homer opinion.
They are top 5 nationally in virtually every category...we are nowhere near that
The ND offensive line will be in for a test but the Clemson secondary is average. Books ability to get the ball out quick on short patterns will be the key to the game

Why do they have better pass defense stats than us? Besides you just claiming they are average?
Have a better QB
Better RB
Better WRs
Better DL
Better secondary
Better punter
Their RBs aren’t better, their secondary is not better,...
ND secondary is much better, ND LB’s are better,

Statistics don’t back up your assertions

Whereas Clemson DOES have at every level and the entire DL will go day one

What team has a better back 7 than ND
The Clemson offensive line would struggle with the ND defensive line all day

Do tell
Actually I think you can’t handle someone not being a fucking homer
So in other words, it's because the committee thinks so. Thanks for adding zero to this debate.
Also, it's a 13 person committee.
And he’s a miserable fuck on top of it.
..if you wanted to find something that they most consistently co-align with, it would be the SOR ranking
...who is #1 in that again.?.?
ton of confidence in this team, now that Book has taken over. Hope he is completely healthy this week.
