Miami closer to Clemson than Dallas. So ND ends up in Dallas as #2 or #3 ND plays #3 probably UGA and Bama to Miami as 4
GEOGRAPHY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT........The Cotton has #1 vs #4.........The Orange has #2 vs #3....... Period !
Per the CFP

They say they are not supposed to put the #1 team at a geographic disadvantage. If they play Oklahoma at #4, I would think that would put them at a disadvantage going to Dallas with Oklahoma being closer to Dallas so I would think they would send them to Miami.

Plain and simple.....The Cotton Bowl will have # 1 vs #4.......The Orange Bowl will have #2 vs #3....That's it.....! Done.....
...check Wikipedia's entry on BCS playoff. #1 seed plays in closer stadium, period.
Not due to their ranking but because they say it is more accessible for their fandom.
Let me make this as clear as possible.......THE COTTON BOWL WILL FEATURE #1 vs #4.......THAT'S BAMA (unless the lose to UGA on Saturday)....so ESPN may, at least have that correct...
THE ORANGE BOWL WILL FEATURE #2 vs #3........GEOGRAPHY HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT......
That's it......PERIOD......
The matchup numbers are not set for each venue. It may well work out that way.
If Bama is #1: #1 vs #4 will be at Cotton
If Clemson is #1: #1 vs. #4 will be at Orange
If ND is #1: #1 vs. #4 is at Cotton
Link: How does the CFP select which game goes to shich site?
Do you really, really want to know the secret? (Forget the printed propaganda)...The #1 team gets their choice......but you wont find that printed anywhere....now, do you want to know why Bama wants to go to Texas?
ND would be 1 seed and playing in closer TEXAS, period.
