Their OC to replace him. Saw another report in which the AD denied it. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I think Urban has gotten some bad publicity over the years. He used his ailment to get out of Florida. I live in Florida and you have to be very careful on these kids down here. Don't think UM realized what he was getting into when he took the UF job. If parents are not right on top of their kids, troubles start. Stepherson and McIntosh were from south Florida. Dexter was from Orlando, but had a mother capable of moving to SB and sitting on him. Mullen has had some problems. FSU just overlooks everything and has done so for years. One of the reasons Jimbo got out too. Miami had a lineman shot and killed near campus a couple of years ago. The Convicts are in Miami. Rumors are than Saban's wife urge him to move from Miami. It's no place for a midwestern girl. And the assistant Smith who caused UM's problems this year was first cited in Florida.
This response isn't directed at the person above... It's more of a generic statement.
There is exactly zero chance that as an established coach, he would come to Notre Dame, even before he accumulated that much weighty baggage.
Coaches like Saban, Meyer, Stoops, etc., will demand complete control over the football program, and no interference from the powers that be.
The Notre Dame Board of Trustees will never cede that kind of power to anyone.

It's not a matter of money, but rather, the Notre Dame Board of Trustees would never give him complete control over the program.

However, once he saw the comparative packages offered by Florida versus ND, it came down to these factors:
Florida offered more money (not much of a factor)
Florida had a much better roster, stocked with NFL talent everywhere (big factor). ND's roster had very few workable bodies in those 2004 and 2005 classes. If it weren't for Charlie Weis' last second recruiting pitches that brought in several decent players, that 2005 class would have been just as bad, if not worse. I doubt Meyer would have liked to face that awful upcoming 2007 season, where at best, he would have had a 5 win season.
Florida would give him full control over the program. ND will never do this for anyone as long as the current Board of Trustees is in place.
continues the slog.

The only way he would leave, is if the NCAA were about to bust him for more of his usual violations.
He looks miserable.

For obvious reasons.
