Link: 5 Things I Didn't Like in Notre Dame's Cotton Bowl Loss to Clemson
diddly for ND. Austin, Keys & Lenzy have the talent and most of all speed (who remembers Austin's slant v. NW). Why were they not stretching the field? Clemson jammed the line and dared our slow receivers to get behind them while the pass rush collapsed on Book. Speed, speed, speed would've helped break some big plays.

Even if they did play, they weren't featured.
I always thought it was ominous that Austin didn't travel to NY for Syracuse after taking the slant against NW. I figured he found himself in Kelly's doghouse. He needs to play next season a lot.
the same against Clemson would work when it mostly failed against a much weaker Pitt and USC. My biggest complaint against Kelly and I guess now Long is their stubbornness to do the same shit and not realizing what clearly anyone could see wasn’t going to work. And when the shit hit the fan as everyone except Kelly expected, the Kelly “deer in the headlights” appeared for the entire second half. Pathetic!

Mater of fact, they [the coaches] didn't! Not once!

You'd think humility was warranted, but no.
and FSU teams had an impact. I will tip my hat to Kelly for making the change to Book, and I actually think Lea was an upgrade, both to my surprise. It's blatantly obvious; however, save for a weak schedule, ND is more pretender than contender after 10 years with Kelly. Syracuse is probably his best win at ND; that's nauseating. Clemson exposed NDs deficient coaching as much as its lacking depth chart.

I gave credit for being 12-0 to my surprise I also stated that unless he got creative we couldn’t win in the playoffs. Many on this board thought beating an inferior schedule would be enough. I didn’t think so. Here we are, another beat down and another embarrassment.
