And got embarrassed AGAIN in the post season when it mattered most.
Right now, it hurts. But this will end up being a top 5 ranked team. Few thought that was within reach going into this season.
Notice how Stanford or Northwestern fans are much more reasonable in their expectations, given the academic standards of both schools?

If you had a first class stateroom, it was a tremendous trip until the iceberg (Clemson) was hit

On paper 12-1 sounds great. I think that has been mentioned already, but just in case, I said it again. If you had told everyone here at the beginning of the season that we would be 12-1, very few here would have likely believed you, and many would have said you were full of shit.
What I am upset about, right now, is the 1 in the loss column, and how it got there. What I am upset about, is that I fooled myself into believing that somehow it was going to be different this time. What I am upset about is that our players were embarrassed in a bowl game. What I am upset about is that our coaching staff managed to make the team look so much fucking worse than what they were all damn year. If we had lost by a touchdown, even ten points, I would have been ok with it so long as we looked competitive. I put that at the feet of the coaching staff.
I don't believe that this team is worlds apart in talent from anyone other than probably (edit: definitely) Alabama. I don't think that Clemson was playing lip service when they said we were the best team they were going to have played, and that they were having issues finding weaknesses because of how well we played. The weakness is in the same place it has been, and it has been shown every time our coach has gone head to head with a great coach in the post season. It's on the sideline. This is his third chance now to learn how to win one of these major bowl games. Perhaps the fourth time will be the charm.
To applaud your post.
Dream on, with Brian Kelly as coach, history (embarrassing blowouts) will continue to occur. The guy just doesn't have the skill to be an elite coach. He has had nine years to show or develop such. Saturday demonstrated he is the same level as his first year.

to play with 3 Tommy Reese clones at QB
What upsets Irish fans the most is their pathetic (there is no other way to say it) performance in the semis against Clemson. We thought this was a different type of team than the 2012 team that got embarrassed against Alabama. We thought we could at least be competitive. Instead, it was a total meltdown. That's what upsets me and a bunch of other ND fans.
I think the Irish had an exceptional year and a sub par performance in the Cotton Bowl.

12-1 is wonderful except for the fact that we only played two teams all year that might have beat us and got destroyed by one of them.
And the fact that we are likely stuck with Kelly for another few years is downright depressing.

There are at least 10 guys who would be better than Kelly. Babers, Heupel, Campbell, Norvell are easy names to come up with without even straining to think about it.
Kelly sucks especially as on offensive mind. Pitt managed 10 points versus Clemson.
Are you ready to be serious? Who are your other nine, in descending order of silliness.
If you/re content with the past year, then so be it.
I guess I just have higher expectations of the program than you do.
I think you know if you post the names of another nine candidates of your choice, it will further illustrate my point.
The blowout sucked and Clemson is clearly better than us. However, we were not dominated physically nearly as bad as in 2012. Take away the 1 long run and we completely shut down their vaunted running game. Remember how helpless we were against Bama's running attack? I sure do.

We were blown out this year and Clemson is clearly better than us. Our defense though was not bad. Our offense was a disaster thougb. I'll give you that.
year in the National Title game. I feel like depending on the game ND’s offenses are feast or famine under Kelly. I just don’t get it.

There is no other way to put it. I can’t believe anyone on this board sees progress. At least another fucking accidental TD would have been nice. Clemson players on the sidelines knew this team couldn’t compete by the middle of the third. It’s fucking unbelievable that Kelly would let this happen to him again.
I think we have very good talent on the Oline (needs to improve though). A couple of skill players and we could be way better. Maybe we have some in the young WR. TBD. Quarterback remains a big concern though.
specifically players 25-55. Yes, we still have areas of need, but they are minimal by comparison.

So maybe we need more than just a QB. How about a line, how about quicker receivers. How about some depth. How about better play calling in the second half. It’s more than one QB.

you can run any play, with Book it’s short throws and deep fades

one year he goes after a short dual threat, the following year its a project QB
you’d think after Kizer he’d go after big guys, but he likes them small
