That was my first thought after reading everything about the non-call. Didn't actually watch the game.
Saw the game replay and could see it was clearly a blown call. Happened to catch ESPN Sportscenter which had the story "in toto."
Could have called PI given the receiver was rendered incapable of making a play on the ball. Besides we had an illegal chuck as the receiver was way past the 5 yard zone, face guarding as the DB was playing the receiver not the ball, and helmet to helmet contact (they had a camera with a better angle that clearly showed that).
They also interviewed the Ram DB who was surprised and quite happy there wasn't a flag. Basically the story cited in the thread.
Am going to guess that this play will have a silver lining ... aka the NO Rule ... judgement calls or non calls like a this play will be reviewable probably as a challenge and always in the last 2 minutes. Kind of ironically will l probably get a fine for the helmet hit and clemency for the various NO players who criticized the refs.
BTW apparently the CFL has had a rule like this for awhile. Also in passing NO got hit with another error like this in the drive before this one "that will live forever" around midfield as a receiver clearly got hit while the ball was in the air. Also maybe the gods or not were really with LA making the NO kicker miss from point blank range as time expired in regulation ... not likely but possible.

Considering how blatant and obvious the foul was and the magnitude of the game, I can't recall every seeing a missed call as bad.
ND was visiting USC and the USC ball carrier went over the end zone line scoring the TD. Except the ball carrier didn't have the ball. He dropped it before he entered the end zone.
But the refs called it a TD anyhow. That was the worst call in the history of the game. 1979?
1978 was the "incomplete pass" vs Southern Cal in LA.
That is exactly why I don't like pro football. Too many situations like that. Didn't watch the game but everything I have heard/read about it says it was a horrible non call that cost the Saints a trip to the Super Bowl.

literally tackling the receiver before the ball gets there...and he didn't even look back to pretend he was playing the ball.
There is no sensible way of defending that non call..
That was a perfectly throw pass. If the db turned around he would have intercepted it.
Atrocious no call.
nowhere close to the WR. He would have had to change his momentum and gone through the DB to make the catch. He wasn't going to catch it. The DB should have picked it, but the WR wasn't going to catch that ball with or without DB interference.

I wanted the Rams to win, but that was one of the most egregious no calls I ever saw.

Again not sure what play you're watching. The ball was right on the receiver. No db there and that ball is a reception.
knocked on his ass before the ball got there. Terrible officiating
If the Pat's make it, I'll pass on the SB.
